Not impressed. $9 for a skimpy, soggy chicken cutlet sandwich on a white bread roll. I hadn't been here in a long time, the place used to be great.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! When I remember I call mine in so I can skip the wait. The Originator, Wundershowzen and Bambaataa are a few of my favorites. They have good parking and friendly staff. The only down side is yes it is expensive. Try their food too, everything is delicious!
Five Guys
📍 Address: 3208 B Guadalupe St, Austin

My most recent experience really cemented Five Guys as a favorite of mine. First of all, place was BUMPIN'. The staff, however, handled the packed house just fine. They said my order would require an 8 minute wait. I doubt it took that long. In the time it took us to get settled with our drinks, ketchup and free whole peanuts, they were already calling out our order. I actually thought I misheard the number, because how could they POSSIBLY have pumped two burgers and two orders of fries out so fast? They also appeared to have an employee dedicated to sweeping up previously criticized peanut shells. I didn't feel one crunch under my feet. And finally, the cajun fries. I'm not big on spicy food(I know, I know), so I was wary. BUT THEY'RE INCREDIBLE. Eat them. So definitely, definitely give this place a try!

I come here a couple of times a week, since they are in my building. The salads, sandwiches and soups are great. But the people are even better, with attentive and friendly service. I've never been disappointed. Good values too. And a special thanks to Keeya for making my day better with every visit!

Diesel Cafe

I literally cannot imagine my neighborhood without Diesel. As a coffee shop, it's pretty good, but beyond that, it's become a community fixture I've loved since it opened. Despite its industrial decor, the space is large and warm, and offers a wide variety of seating options. That means I feel equally at home whether I'm here with a date, want to sit alone with a book, meet a large group, or just stop by for coffee with a few friends. It's big enough and busy enough at any given time that I blend in when I want to be alone and won't be overheard if I want to have an intimate conversation. Bonus: Late hours! There are multiple outlets throughout the space, which makes it a great place to take your laptop. However, I rarely do this, as I don't want to pay for wi-fi. It's got a reputation as a queer hangout, which is only half true: Diesel's clientele runs the gamut, but it's definitely an extremely queer friendly space, which is awesome. The food and coffee are always consistently great. I don't know why anyone complains about the prices: They are pretty comparable to Starbucks, and I would rather give my money to a local business that supports other local businesses instead of serving processed crap. Their sandwiches and salads are the highlights of the menu. My favorite is the Little Piston, which is basically a caprese sandwich on 1/3 of a baguette. Ask for it toasted and you've got a brilliant hangover cure. Diesel could up their game when it comes to baked goods and tea. The baked goods are yummy, but it would be great to see some new additions to the selection. As for the tea, I would love to see something on offer that is not from MEM Tea Imports. Literally EVERY independent coffee shop in Greater Boston serves almost exclusively MEM teas and I am bored of it. Independent cafes start to feel like chains when they all serve goods from exactly the same places. Shake it up a bit! :)
