The OASIS on Lake Travis
📍 Address: 6550 Comanche Trl, Austin
⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐ (2.5)
This place has the worst service, below average food and unclean plates. The view is beautiful but simply not worth it. If you must come here, have a drink at the bar and leave. Some of the items we ordered did not even show up and the waiter was MIA for the most part.

My husband I were visiting from out of town. Decided to stop in because it was close to our hotel and near the freeway. We walked in and were immediately hit in the face with a stale hooka bar stench. Kind of like rancid patchouli mixed with some sort of cleaner ugh.. My husband and I both ignored the smell and proceeded to the counter. The atmosphere was uninviting and a little awkward. We looked behind the counter and saw they sell alcohol too. (Hmm I thought this was a coffee shop..wtf!?) At this point we just want to get our coffee and leave. The person behind the counter half greeted us with a blank face and slurred out a "g'morning." You could tell it was forced and not authentic. We both ignored this as well and just ordered our coffees. While waiting we saw they sell novel cookies that had fun ingredients like Cheetos in them. So we decided to get one for our son who was waiting in the car. Our son opened his cookie and it was stale. Like hard as a frickin brick.. Our total was about $18 for two stale cookies and two disgusting coffees. My husband didn't even finish his because he felt sick a few sips in. I finished mine because I paid $6 for the damn thing and I needed my caffeine fix. Shortly after finishing, I too felt sick to my stomach. This place is more expensive than Starbucks (we went there yesterday for coffee and paid only $15 for 3 medium drinks) and not nearly as good. I do not recommend if you want good coffee. I'm pretty experienced when it comes to coffee and I was not impressed. I would've rather gotten coffee at McDonalds..no joke.
Hot Chicken Takeover
📍 Address: 59 Spruce St, Columbus

This is an up and coming thing in Columbus. It is great already and has nowhere to go but up. The food is a weekend-only thing for now, and I think they're trying to make it into a "brick and mortar" business. What they have is spicy chicken, mac & cheese, slaw, etc. Give it a try!

Thai Orchid Restaurant

We got really hungry and wanted Thai Food. We walked through a pretty park on the way here. We talked about what it would be like to make an alternate reality game (via iPhone) of the Oregon Trail. It would have been really fun to do if we could pull it off but we ended up discussing audio recording instead. We ordered lunch specials and Thai Iced Teas. We asked them to make it as spicy as possible. We got the reply, "So pretty spicy?" We asked it to be as spicy and possible. We got kind-of-spicy-food and a spice-tray. We devoured the AMAZING FOOD and the spice tray (get the spice tray, eat the green peppers). We paid our $9-a-piece bill and left spicy bliss. We noted this places location in our hearts.
