Bubor Cha Cha

📍 Address: 45 Beach St, Boston

I wish I could give zero stars like the New York Times. DO NOT EAT HERE. I walked in here with a friend after my noticing my usual spot, New Golden Gate, bursting at the seams with patrons. We were hungry and this place had tables. We ordered some appetizers. Scallion pancakes, wonton soup and mini spring rolls. The mini spring rolls were super weird and contained some kind of baking spice. I didn't really understand it. The scallion pancakes were basic, done well enough and hit the spot. At the same time we ordered our appetizers we also ordered our entrees. Halfway into eating the appetizers we got our bill. Our waitress just left it on the table without a word. Essentially telling us to pay for our meals before we even received half of them, and ten minutes after requesting a glass of water (a request that was fulfilled after asking twice). I was confused, figured that maybe this is just the way they did things and waited for our entrees. Except after a few minutes, parties that ordered after us were receiving plates of food while we sat looking awkward at our table with a bill. After trying to get the attention of our waitress who had apparently disappeared to the back, I flagged down a waiter and told him we hadn't received our food. He went to grab our waitress who apologized and told us the food would be out in a few minutes. Ten minutes later and I'm looking behind me to the kitchen. No one is cooking. The cooks are scratching their heads and laughing. All parties who ordered after us had received their food. I'm pissed at this point. I don't ask for much. I work in the service industry so I'm typically very forgiving about mistakes, but this experience was full of utter negligence on the part of the restaurant and I wasn't about to wait another ten minutes to find out the food order had never made it to the cooks. All waiters (and there were about six of them) are off the floor so I go to the register. I tell them to charge me for the food we received and that I wasn't going to wait any longer. They didn't seem to understand what I was saying. No one apologized. Finally someone went ahead and printed me a new bill, but before showing it to me tried to grab for my credit card. Turns out they tried to charge me for two bubble teas when I only ordered one. So they had to print me a new bill. At this point I'm furious and it's taking everything in my normally well tempered self to hold back the vitriol I want to spew at these people. While waiting I read a bunch of the Yelp reviews about mandatory gratuity and the servers scamming people out of tips they didn't write in. So I scribbled out the entirety of the "tip" section on the receipt. I left pretty angry without receiving a single apology. DO NOT EAT HERE.

The Thurman Cafe

📍 Address: 183 Thurman Ave, Columbus

The Thurm. God that is a huge burger. I always picture myself picking it up and going to town on it when I order it and only when it shows up do I remember that NO part of that burger fits in my mouth. Fork and knife it, friends. But if you have not had it, venture into German Village for one soon. Sundays can be a mess in here, though. As the unofficial hangout of every NFL nerd in German Village that doesn't have a TV, if you are not wearing the football jersey or T-Shirt of a midwestern team than you will not fit in. Usually it is all Bungles Brownies and Steelers fans in there, who are busy belittling each other and hogging all ten TV's so I can't even see my Bears getting thumped (and yes, even though I don't wear my Urlacker jersey to the Thurm on gameday I am still a fan).

Joey D's Oak Room

📍 Address: 1015 Crown Pointe Pkwy, Atlanta

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

Honestly, I don't quite understand the hype with this restaurant. I visited for the first time with colleagues during lunch. I started with the She Crab Soup, which was lukewarm and had the strangest consistency ever. This is considered a signature of the restaurant, really? Also, the House Salad had an identity crisis with the ingredients...how do you get that wrong, I wonder. Anyway, I didn't finish it. The entire table shared the Beefsteak Tomatoes, meh. Finally, myself and another guest had the blandest Sea Bass imaginable. On the bright side, it was a clean dish...just completely missing flavor. Service was really good, though. So, that was a plus and the only reason for two stars. Anyway, I won't be coming back here...there are just too many great places to eat in Atlanta. Happy Eating!

Portions are great and the service was great I was there for the Arnold Fitness Classic and even when it was busy they were nice. I hope this stays as a Columbus classic that never dies.

Chrome Yellow Trading

📍 Address: 501 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

This is my favorite coffee spot in ATL. There are a couple of key reasons. There's the super-trendy flavorful; nutty, citrusy, acidic Stumptown Coffee - which - is only found in a few gems in Atlanta and otherwise only in Brooklyn, NY. Then there's the curated coffee and tea beverages. Like whiskey? Try a bourbon latte! Like green tea?Mix that with champagne and you're in for a hella good spritzer. There's swag here too, bumper stickers, t-shirts, hats, etc. This is a real cool spot. Stop what you're doing - check out CY Trading now! YES Pro Tip: Get a beer! You'll find a selection that isn't carried anywhere else in the city!
