Red and Black Cafe

📍 Address: 400 SE 12th Ave, Portland

This was one of my favorite stops on our family's vegan road trip. Delicious food, great space, cool neighborhood, healthy, affordable, and I liked the atmosphere/conversation starters.

Chiara

📍 Address: 569 High St, Westwood

Sat at the bar while in town on business, and I was blown away by the experience. The bartenders were fantastic: attentive, friendly and tons of fun. I ordered the crab cakes, Brussel sprouts, French onion soup and creme brûlée (don't judge). The green apple and butternut squash slaw on the crab cake was unexpected and delicious, but the creme brûlée really stole the show. Would definitely come back next time I'm in town!

This is Portland's necessary stop for cocktail lovers with an appreciation for Amari. The selection is spectacular and the cocktails are delicious.

Story Book Dining at Artist Point with Snow White

📍 Address: 901 Timberline Dr, Orlando

This Disney restaurant does not meet the hype of being a signature dining experience. The food is good, but was not particularly outstanding. The signature field greens salad was good and the best part of our meal. The crab cakes had a lot of non-crab filler and I think it had an extra helping of horseradish or something. The cedar plank salmons were okay, but nothing great for the price. I had about the same thing at Outback last week. One the hallmarks of Disney signature restaurants used to be the attire allowed. This one supposedly had a dress code, but did not seem to the night we were there. We were all in button-up shirts and trousers/slacks and the 3 tables around us were all in pool and park roaming clothes. We are not attire snobs, but were under the impression there was a classy standard. We cut our park day short to go clean up and change clothes. Little did we know that we could have come straight from Splash Mountain.

Pisces Rising

📍 Address: 239 W 4th Ave, Mount Dora

We took my boyfriend's family to Pisces Rising for a late Mother's Day celebration, and while I was impressed with the waterfront views and the detailed, vintage building, I was much less excited about our dining experience there. We didn't have any issues with service, although I was confused as to why they did not have a beer menu: we were told that we could find their list of beers written on a chalkboard wall behind the bar, and this was not easy to see from our table. The server had to go to the bar, memorize the list and then come back and repeat it back to us. We ordered a variety of dishes, but I myself was talked into ordering their special of the day, which was a duck and mashed potato spring roll with a chocolate sauce. From the description that the waiter gave it sounded amazing, and it tasted just as good, I was just disappointed in the amount of food that I got for the price that I paid, which I felt was not enough food to justify the high price tag. Everyone in my party had one or two small issues with their dishes, as well, but nothing that warranted sending anything back to the kitchen. While I doubt I will find myself returning to Pisces Rising, overall we enjoyed our lunch and the atmosphere, we just weren't very impressed with the quality of the food.
