The CI Bar and Grill

📍 Address: 18786 SW Boones Ferry Rd, Tualatin

Sad. Sad. Sad. I am so very sad. First, please allow me to set the stage. CIs has been a favorite bar of mine for many many years! I have gone out of my way for the music and very good food. My husband & I had our first date there 7 years ago. We decided we wanted to hear Lisa Mann a few weeks ago, so we dressed up to go dancing. We were there for many hours, enjoying the music and having beverages. The waitress appeared rude from the get go. I didn't think it was necessarily directed towards us or about us. But maybe. She never denied us drinks, nor indicated we were over doing it. My husband tends to be on the loud side, especially as he enjoys adult beverages. We were never rude, disrespectful or in anyway inappropriate. We had just ordered food to go, as we were wrapping up our even...when the waitress SNAPPED. She ran up to our table chest bumping my husband, screaming & spitting in his face all the while pointing her finger within a hair of his face. She screamed that we needed to leave "HER" bar now. And that we were "NOT GOING TO ACT LIKE THAT IN HER BAR!" We were so stunned, we didn't know what to do. We hadn't "done" anything! She had rallied 4 regulars to come up behind her that had postured themselves for this confrontation. My husband is a big man. When a 6'4" African-American man stands up angered by this treatment, all hell breaks loose. As it would when anyone is falsely being accused of something they hadn't done. We still don't get what happened. The waitress accused my husband of calling her a bitch, which NEVER happened. But who are the police going to believe the solo black guy in a white community bar, hardly. Or the white tweeker waitress & her loyal regulars? I know what you must be thinking? There are 2 sides to every story. I get that. And probably that this couldn't be as simple as stated above. It really was!! My husband was wronged! I never expected treatment such as that from Tualatin. Shame on you. So very disappointed in one of my most favorite bars, in all of this area has done such an injustice. At the very least, the waitress needs canned. At the very most, I REALLY hope this review hurts your business!

Grass Skirt Tiki Room

📍 Address: 105 N Grant Ave, Columbus

Stars: (3.5)

We had a great time at the grass skirt on saturday. Drinks were good and the food was great too. Parking lot is very small but there is a $5.00 lot right next to it. Nice service and the customers ranged from 21 to 70 inside.. Very cool place to hang out and have dinner and some drinks.

Hot Star Large Fried Chicken

📍 Address: 1623-4791 Mcclelland Road, Richmond

This is the famous fast food fried chicken chain from Taiwan. Since they just opened the staff technically are still under "training". Waltz in there just before noon and a few tables were occupied. My number was promptly called for pick-up. I imagined the chicken to be humongous since they boasted the size to be XXL. However, it is a little larger than my hand size. I had the original. The chicken was juicy and crispy on the outside. The seasoning was perfect, however you can opt for spicier versions. I am not a big eater so I took whatever is left home. Several hours later, the crispness is gone but still ok to eat. A quick fry in the pan crisp it up. Because it had just opened quite a few items on their board are still not available. Will have to go back with a larger group to sample different items.

Hawkers Asian Street Food

📍 Address: 1103 Mills Ave N, Orlando

This place is really interesting. Not only is the decor and atmosphere unique to the type of restaurant it is (steel walls), but the concept of street food/asian tapas is what sets it apart from other restaurants around the area. Because of the walls, it tends to be loud and you can pretty much hear everyone's conversations. The service was okay, but for us being one of the few parties in there, they could've been more attentive. The best thing on the menu I think was the Roti Canai. It's a shame they only have one per order and it's extra to get another one. It's so good by itself and the curry that it comes with makes it just a tad better. I also tried the Laksa Curry, but it was watery and greasy. The Five Spice Tofu I had big expectations for, but I honestly thought it was too salty...and sweet. The rest of the food wasn't memorable, but I'm giving this place an extra star for the roti.
