I give this place 10 stars if I could. The food is always fresh (they don't freeze anything overnight) and the staff is always fantastic. They know exactly what is in all the dishes and are more than willing to explain for you. They don't serve any meat but I've taken plenty of my meat-eating friends here and they have all loved it. Food comes out quickly also.

I know this may not be politically correct to say, but I'm not sure what the big deal is with cannoli. Given the popularity of Mike's, this has to be the best cannoli around. However, I found the cannoli to be kind of dry and tasteless. The cream filling is tasty, but what is so great about cannoli? We walked in after dinner and got our cannoli right away. No lines, and we managed to find a place to sit at a table. As we ate our cannoli, the lines got bigger until it filled the entire store and spilled out into the street. What a mob. I'll need to try the other pastries.

My friends and I ventured down to Doc's one Friday evening when the wait @ most of the other SoCo restaurants was an hour and a half. We had never been to Doc's, but we were STARVING...so we decided to give it a try without knowing anything about the place. We walk up and they have a pretty nice crowd, but there were still plenty of tables open. They have a really great patio area & some misters to keep you a little cooler (although they kind of just made it feel more humid to me?). Anyways, we found an open table for the 6 of us without a problem. The food was actually pretty good. I had a veggie burger which was bigger than any other veggie burger I've had @ a restaurant and I really liked it. The fries were FANTASTIC. One of my friends had the chicken fried avocado and he can't stop talking about how good it was. I can't remember what my other friends had, but they all seemed pretty satisfied as well. Their beer prices weren't stellar, which was definitely the biggest negative of our experience. If you're in the SoCo area though, and you don't feel like waiting a long time...definitely check out Doc's. It was a very pleasant surprise.

GREAT FRIGGIN CANOLLIS. The lobster tail is a bit much for me, but I'm a peanut. The trick is to just get to the front of the line (ignoring some of the messed up tourist queuing) and be fast and courteous. Tourists can't handle the lines - figure out what you want, get to the counter, and get out.

This is the best IHOP I have been to, always clean, warm, nice jazz music playing in the background. Friendly and courteous servers. It's a pleasant surprise for the area it's located in.. Highly recommend.
The OASIS on Lake Travis
📍 Address: 6550 Comanche Trl, Austin

The view from The Oasis on Lake Travis is definitely worth the trip. I have to agree with many other reviewers when it comes to the food. My family and I played it safe with chips and Que so and enjoyed the wonderful view. There's also live music set up so that's a plus. The dragon situation was a little weird. The wait for the umbrella tables on the lower levels was 2 hours long. We decided to avoid that by going to the third level. The view was still amazing and we got to avoid the heat. If you're going to go here make sure it's for the view and not for the food.
