Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill

📍 Address: 303 Red River St, Austin

Stars: (4.5)

Wonderful atmosphere and absolutely delicious food on the menu. I love the back bar and wine selection, and the staff is very polite and helpful. We recently tried to have a birthday dinner there and missed out on it altogether because the wait for our table kept getting pushed back, but I understand that can happen. We'll go back for the food and atmosphere - I'm not wild about chicken and waffles but they do look delicious here.

Everett Street Bistro

📍 Address: 1140 NW Everett St, Portland

Excellent breakfast in an awesome French neighborhood atmosphere. Stupmtown coffee and espresso, excellent scrambles with high quality ingredients. Fresh and soft euro quality bread. Awesome eggs-benny. My favorite b-fast spot in the Pearl.

Hakata Ramen

📍 Address: 673 Hancock St, Quincy

Ordered delivery. Got two rolls of sushi and the spicy ramen. Was decent. Ramen was very hot when it arrived and almost burnt my finger on it! So that's good. Sushi was mediocre. Would probably order again from them however. Not bad for a Sunday night last minute order.

sweetgreen

Stopped into Sweetgreen on Sunday with a friend and was blown away. As it was my first visit, I wanted to try something really flavorful so I settled on the Harvest Bowl and added fresh beets with the miso dressing as a substitution for the balsamic. This was one of the best salads I've had. Creamy goat cheese, almonds, sweet potatoes, chicken. The perfect blend of flavors. The staff members were all happy and very accommodating. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more of the menu.

Shigezo Izakaya

📍 Address: 910 SW Salmon St, Portland

I have been here several times since I live so close. I have always had a great meal and great sushi. They have been very helpful with my gluten allergy and whatever I want to order. Friends I have brought with me have enjoyed their desserts. A lot. They look amazing,,,I believe they are made by a local baker. Spider roll, spicy tuna, rainbow, and the veggie roll are great.

Well, I'm far from disappointed with my experience here. We sat at the bar. It's a lively little restaurant and I think it was designed to truly make you feel like you're dining at someplace in Thailand. The bartender chatted with us and was nothing but friendly and great. We decided to go with the famous wings (of course) and we also got a catfish noodle dish, that I'm sure the name of was far too much for me to recall. Well aside from that it was super delicious. There were crispy yet very fresh and tender pieces of catfish atop a salad of rice noodles, lettuce, mint, peanuts, and a couple of herbs I don't think I've had before. I'm sure that in the sauce/dressing there was fish sauce, lime juice, curry. It was a bombass flavor combo and was a lovely dish. I definitely could have eaten more of that. It was just very refreshing and very bright. The wings were pretty good- we ordered them spicy but they weren't really spicy. They were more savory. Full of fish saucy/garlicky flavor. I WISH they would have been spicier as I could have handled it and almost wished for it in every bite. They are good wings, but I think if I could go back I would have opted to try another dish instead. If I find myself in Portland again, I would most definitely return. Living in Denver where there is such a lack of food diversity and culture, I definitely admire establishments like this. There was not any pad thai or your typical Thai dishes on the menu, and I really liked that they serve street food. I fully appreciate getting a different take on what we "know" a typical cuisine to be.
