Truluck's

📍 Address: 10225 Research Blvd, Ste 4000, Austin

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

Meah! It's okay, nothing great here but their mashed potatoes. Filet Mignon is over priced for the quality and they will charge you a hefty $4 for a side of bernaise. Service is always good.

Christopher's Restaurant

📍 Address: 580 Main St, Reading

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

Went to Christopher's for the first time on Saturday, we had to sit at the counter cause the place was packed but the food was delicious and a great deal! Oh and their coffee was delicious too, I'm a recent coffee convert and am hesitant about trying coffee when we're out somewhere but I downed a cup of their hazelnut and had to order another before our food even came out. The only thing that bugged me was some of the servers were hanging out on the other side of the counter, like just standing there.. while we were on our side eating, made things kind of awkward..

El Camino's

📍 Address: 3250 Main Street, Vancouver

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

Pretty decent Mexican/Latin American restaurant. If you wanted to try food from all the places south of the united states, this place would be a good sampler. The decor was nice and the staff was friendly. The place was a little loud as it was packed. Prices were pretty affordable. The free lime popcorn was delicious. And free. Let's give where recognition where recognition is due. Free side dishes are a rarity and always appreciated. I don't even like popcorn.... I tried the gamba arepca - almost like shrimp and English muffin sorta thing. The 'English muffin' had a crispy, dry texture to it. I wasn't a big fan of it. The shrimp however was pretty delicious. Its lathered in an sauce. The tacos. Around $7 for 2 for small tacos. The tortilla was not dry. The sauce was plentiful. Overall the tacos are kinda small, but decent overall. The battered cod taco - 2 small battered pieces with some pickled veggie garnish. Fish was nicely cooked but underwhelming to me. The chorizo taco - its more like minced meat. But the flavours were nice, with a touch of sweetness to the meat. Sweet meat. This one was easily my favourite. The pork taco - pineapple was a nice touch. The actual pork was so so. Its sweet, savoury and tender. I think it's decent; but I wasn't really loving the way the pork itself tasted. It just tasted off. The place is a trendy little restaurant and fits well with Main St. I don't mind this place for what it is. Give it a try one night.

Pig Floyd's Urban Barbakoa

📍 Address: 1326 N Mills Ave, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

Sorry, being almost 60, the younger the faces I see in the reviews, the more I question they really have much of a clue about what good/excellent barbeque is supposed to really taste like. Don't care about the hype, it's about the food. I will certainly give this place a 2nd try but my first experience was a total Meh! Generally when I walk into a Q joint the first clue that tells you you're there is the smell of smoke and/or odor of smoking meats. There was none, not a whiff. 4:45pm, just at pre-rush on a Saturday afternoon. Strange. I looked behind the counter to see that the kitchen you do see is for finishing/building your plates. The real cooking/smoking must take place behind that. I did see a smoker out back that was completely disconnected from the building. Too bad. I like spice/heat so I ordered the Crisp Pork Belly Banh Mi which shows a "fire" image next to the name indicating it's hot/spicy? It was neither unless you count the 3 slices of japaleno like "fresno" on top as the heat/spice ingredient that are actually the milder version of the jalapeno look alike pepper. The lucky dragon sauce did not live up to the name. The belly wasn't crispy. Also had the Korean Kimcheeze Taco which had chunks of chicken melted in a blob of pepper jack. Spicy kimchi and pickled onions both missed the flavor bus and had zero heat and marginal flavor of any kind. The table we sat at (and actually all tables I noticed) were devoid of any sauces or even salt and pepper to customize/perk up the flavor. My two dining companions ordered the half chicken and the other the 1/2 rack of ribs. Didn't taste the chicken. The ribs were cooked just right and had a little pull left on the bone but was strangely devoid of any smoky flavor. Tasted like oven baked to me. Sauce was good but nothing special/memorable. For me, the "Barbakoa" latin style cooking was a miss for the dishes I tried. The adventuresome and creative dishes described on the menu got me there to try it, but for me, the flavors fell short. My 2nd and (maybe) last trip I'll hope for the best and just stick to traditional Plane Jane Barbakoa basics and hope for some good smoky barbeque pulled pork and brisket...and maybe a Butter Chicken Taco; my last gasp grasp for some spicy inspiration.

Enjoyed the food! Had the beef rice bowl (only because they were out of lamb). It was delicious! I left completely stuffed.

Aroy Thai

📍 Address: 1-2816 Saint Johns Street, Port Moody

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

I have been very fortunate to have had some very good Thai food. I recently moved to Port Moody and decided to test out the Thai food in this area. I typically order pad thai because this is the best way to judge how good the food will be. I ordered pad thai, coconut rice, and green curry. The lady who had answered was nice enough and indicated the wait for pick up was 45 mins. I had time to spare and said that was fine. When I went to pick up, she said that their food would be worth the wait. The green curry was half decent....but the pad thai was the worse I have ever tasted. It was so dry that the noodles clumped together. The shrimps were tiny; and overall it was totally tasteless. The coconut rice was extremely sweet and mushy. I had to compost the pad thai and most of the coconut rice. Maybe they had a bad day? I most likely won't return to determine that.
