Gourmand's has never fallen short of giving me an amazing sandwich (or soup). The sandwiches come with their homemade potato chips that are to die for. Oh and their soup comes in a bowl made out of bread, delicious. And there's pretty decent prices at the bar which is always a plus.
Cafe Java- Austin

I have a strange feeling this neighborhood cafe is going to be my hangout while I attend a class at ACC Northridge Campus during the summer. I'm glad they have something like this close by. Not that expensive and the food is good. I ordered a bacon-cheeseburger with potato salad and it was good. The service made me feel like I was one of the people that frequent the spot. That mattered a lot because it made me feel at ease while be in the restaurant that is low lit. They are in the same mini-mall as the pizza spot, dount shop and a gas station which apparently they also have a cafe too. At least, I know Cafe Java is close by ACC just in case I need a caffeine fix or a meal before class. Sometimes I need a meal and not a bunch of snacks to get me through class.

The Original Dinerant

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott next door which was conveniently connected to the restuarant. They had a small, but quality selection of local beers on tap. I tried the Kolsh and the IPA and both were tasty. The menu has some good selections for a twist on comfort food (burgers, poutines, fried chicken and waffles, etc...) I tried the fried chicken and waffle sliders and they were delicious! The bar service was friendly and didn't rush you which I appreciate and it was overall clean.

I was missin a piece of home... from a culinary aspect of course. I just came here from Garden Grove California which has Little Saigon (the largest Vietnamese population outside of actual Vietnam!) and was a bit spoiled with all of the Vietnamese restaurants out there. I was already missing various foods so naturally I looked up my nearest good option up this direction... I saw 4.5 stars for their rating and I thought "no way... that's gotta be just for this area!" After going there I assure you that it's not. The prices here are higher than what I'm used to but I can justify the inflated pricing by the great service and charm... back in GG you can get the delicious authentic stuff, but it rarely to never comes paired with any sort of service...EVEN if you go to a table service location. This place is a table service location and they make you feel welcome and appreciated here! I ordered two items but started off with their Xa Xiu or BBQed Pork Banh Mi (Sandwich): http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tan-tan-cafe-and-delicatessen-vancouver?select=-Y8xDSyYHF9cV8nYN0fwjQ#7Loo_7F8-X3BcjQ2ApnbVg which as you can see has a good amount of thickly sliced meat that did prove very tasty as well as the other usual elements of carrots, daikon, jalapenos, and cilantro. The bread was soft and bakery fresh and held all ingredients in like a glove. This sandwich was most delicious and well worth the $3.50 price tag on it For an entree I had a go at the Bun Cha Gio (Egg Rolls): http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/tan-tan-cafe-and-delicatessen-vancouver?select=-Y8xDSyYHF9cV8nYN0fwjQ#Tyk1zsXVacAb8E2q0DxbyQ Bun Cha is a delicious Noodle Dish that comes deconstructed in the North or constructed in the South... this was obviously a Southern interpretation. My favorite type of Bun Cha is Bun Cha Ha Noi with all of its delicious pork goodness. Everything was prepared perfect on this dish and both flavors and textures were present to be quite pleasing to the palate. If you're in the Couve and craving Vietnamese Food then I do highly recommend Tan Tan Cafe & Delicatessen. Service is virtually unparallelled here! There is lots of seating in the form of regular tables. They have a soft palate inside and decor like the service is humble yet very clean. There is plenty of parking available in this Strip Mall location.
