Bellino Trattoria Siciliana

📍 Address: 1230 NW Hoyt St, Portland

Stars: (4)

You know an Italian place is authentic if there are Italian people eating there--and there were quite a few the night we had one of the best meals ever at our new favorite place in Portland. The food isn't just authentically Italian--it's authentically Sicilian: lots of seafood, citrus, and almonds. The space is a perfect combination of Portlandian and Italian, everyone who works there is welcoming and attentive, and the food is delicious. Be sure to start with some of the yummy fried options!

Lamberts Downtown Barbecue

📍 Address: 401 W 2nd St, Austin

Stars: (4)

I am so confused on how Lamberts got 4 stars. I had better barbecue from Rudy's than what I had here. We tried wild boar which was drenched in barbecue sauce and sitting in a pool of ranch dressing. Mac and cheese was okay, again I had better elsewhere. We also had the brisket which wasn't anything special. I would save your money and go to Salt Lick.

Strip

📍 Address: 245 18th St, Atlanta

Honestly, how can you pass up half off rolls on thursday nights?! Huh?! That's right, you can't. The sushi was delicious, but they fell apart a little too easily. We sat at the sushi bar, so the fish seemed pretty fresh and definitely worth my money. However, I can't say much about the other food. Also, the mackerel sashimi I had was extremely dry, which is a shame because I always have such high expectations with any sashimi.

Doc's Motorworks

📍 Address: 1123 S Congress Ave, Austin

Stars: (3.5)

The food and atmosphere here is great - but the customer service makes me really embarrassed for them - very slow, spacey, not congenial or engaging - sort of oblivious. Has happened on several occasions with several different employees. Bad enough to make that cringey face every time someone says we're going to Doc's and I live next door so it's just so hard to avoid it. Is there a manager somewhere that owes the wait staff here a great pep talk or what? Please!

Touch of India Tandoori Restaurant

📍 Address: 3017 N Druid Hills Rd NE, Atlanta

I really had high hopes for this place for it is close to my home and it is hard to find really good Indian food. However I was disappointed. I ordered two dinners which came to 40.00 to go, expensive. The spice was great and it was well cooked but the portions were very small and they over served the rice and the bread. When I arrived it was approx 8:30 pm on Friday night and there was only one couple dining in the entire restaurant which was being heated by space heaters. I should have let those yellow flags win. I do want to say that the man and the lady that waited on me could not have been nicer and I may return because of that and give it one more try. But so far I cannot rate this place very high and Bombay on Savoy and Ashiana in the global mall on Jimmy Carter Blvd are my favorites.
