We wanted to try this new burger place because it's very close to our house. We ordered 1 kids menu (5.99), a duo combo of 3 oz. angus beef and 3 oz. lamb with garlic aioli styled fries (10.77), one spanish beef with garlic aioli fries (11.77) and a strawberry milkshakes (3.99). We ordered all for take out. We got home and they only gave us one garlic aioli fries, so I had to drive back and get it. I got there and instead of getting me a new one, they gave me the fries that was supposed to be mine from earlier, so it has been sitting in their kitchen for at least 15 minutes, so it was soggy! My duo burgers, first of all because I had to go back to get the fries, my burgers were cold, the angus burger was just ok, it wasn't dry and had a little juice left in it and for the taste it wasn't anything special. The lamb one, very dry and needed some taste. My husband's spanish beef burger was also just ok and standard tasting. The garlic aioli fries, obviously mine was soggy, the garlic aioli has a tangy taste to it and it was too much covering all the layers of the fries. The strawberry milkshakes was good. For $35.25 plus I gave $5.29 tip, yes I know I could just not give anything but I was kinda feel bad and awkward for not giving any in front of the cashier and on the card machine the starting tip was 15%. Honestly, I don't think we will come back to this place again, too expensive and no special taste that sets this burger joint different than others.

Vegetarian moussaka (2.5/5) Kind of average, which was disappointing, because I really love moussaka and I had high hopes for this dish.Souvlaki platter (3/5) The souvlakis were pretty good, and my family liked the beef more than the chicken souvlaki. We didn't really like the spanakopita, but that's because we're not big fans of cheese. The calamari and keftedes were just okay, but everyone disliked the dolma and the rice. Chicken puff pastry (4/5) This was probably the best thing that we got. The pastry was light and flaky, and the whole thing tasted great.I won't be back again, as this restaurant is just mediocre in my book.

Went for a second time and had a very different experience. Izakaya is still not *my* favorite food, but I certainly didn't leave here hungry. We got a a tatami room and had very attentive service. She was very helpful about what we may want to order. First visit my sister in law (who knew all about Japanese food from living in Japan)ordered and the waiter didn't have much input and was pretty laid back. Although it was a packed house we got right in with our reservations. Enjoyable evening

Food has leveled off to the "ok" level, which is a sad thing. The amount of falafel in a falafel gyro is half of what it used to be. Or it at least seems that way. I would love to see all of their food come with fries included, or at least the menu state that chips are included and fries are an upcharge. It is a bit misleading. Staff was not as attentive as I am used to. Might have been an off day for them, but I could not tell for sure. With downtown getting more competitive, this place really needs to tighten things up and fight for more customers. They really could be the #1 place in the city if they wanted to.
Island Creek Oyster Bar
📍 Address: 500 Commonwealth Ave, Boston
⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)
Island Creek Oyster Bar lived up to the Yelp hype for me, and looking around where every table as well as the long bar was filled, it seems as though the word is very well out on this place. The $18 valet service was a bit steep, but we were late for our reservation and not being from the area I didn't want to deal with finding a spot. I got over my sticker shock quickly as I eyed the bourbon selection while walking past the bar to our table, and sopped a Four Roses private barrel selection pick. I asked the bartender to see the bottle, and was pleasantly surprised to see it was an OBSK recipe, one that you don't find even in the most specialized liquor stores that do private barrel picks. And priced at $15 for a 2oz neat pour, a relative bargain for a rare barrel strength single barrel bottling, I knew I would be drinking good that night! There service here is pretty spectacular, and our server came by our table over a dozen times and looking around, they have an army of staff to make sure their patrons are well taken care of. The décor is very aesthetically pleasing as well, with high ceilings in a modern, industrial nautical setting. The giant wall of oyster shells assembled in a very artistic manner is a nice touch. My dining partners weren't raw oyster fans, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity and ordered a bunch of raw oysters to start. When in Rome, right?! They brought out a basket of 6 different hot sauces, half of which were artisanal small batch hot sauces that you won't find in any supermarket. I think one was a fermented hot sauce like the Korean chili paste gochujang. For someone like myself who likes to layer on as much flavor complexities as possible, this wide array of hot sauces was a big hit for me. The oysters themselves were incredibly fresh and tasted like they were pulled from the ocean hours prior. Clean, refreshing, and wonderfully delicious. My wife started with the clam chowder, which came with buttermilk biscuits and house-cured bacon. Not your traditional NE chowda, but think rich and luscious and overall a great spin on an American classic. The entrees were also incredibly delicious and very well executed. My wife ventured into the land of foodie unknown by ordering the Lobster Roe Noodles, which basically is some fresh made pasta with lobster roe mixed in. It came with big pieces of fresh, perfectly cooked grilled lobster, braised short rib, oyster mushrooms, and pecorino cheese. Yep, it tasted as good as it sounds and scratched her lobster itch. I went with the Maryland Stiped Bass which came over some Romanesco cauliflower, green apple, and braised fennel. I wish I took a pic of this beautifully plated dish before I devoured the whole thing, because it was a real work of food porn art. The skin was left on and crisped perfectly. All the flavors and textures here worked so well, from the crunchy savory skin to the moist flavorful bass flesh to the sweetness of the green apple cutting the rich sauce. Really one of the better seafood dishes I've had in recent memory. We capped off this excellent meal with some fantastic desserts. The Boston Cream Doughnuts were in little round munchkin balls covered in granulated sugar and filled with vanilla custard and a side of chocolate dip. Such a great light dessert option. We also shared the Chocolate Crunch Bar, which was perfectly described by our server as in-between a traditional chocolate bar and cake, which came with hazelnuts and blood orange sorbet. A great dessert for those chocolate lovers out there.I originally gave this place a 4-star review, but upon writing this review and reflecting upon the meal and experience, I have to upgrade this to a 5-start initial experience. I had high expectations going in based on the Yelper praise and once I got over the sky-high valet price, every aspect of this dining experience met or exceeded my expectations. It was the absolute perfect restaurant for our kid-less, adult couples night out!

Nice find, close to home and carries an assortment of Mexican favorites outside of the downtown core!Picked up some gansito and gansito cookies, tajin in keychain and regular sizes, valentina sauce, tortillas, pulparindo candies in both mango and watermelon flavours, chiccharron, and pickled nopalito. Will frequent more frequently as they are so close to home...they also carry horchata, jarritos, sangria, and aga. Wished they carried pulparindo dots or the chewy spicy watermelon candies on a stick.
