We met some friends here for dinner. They made the reservation on Open Table. The food was good. The table had a bit of things from all over the menu. (The pork, the chicken, soup, french toast desert) I ate the mussles and the Ahi Tuna. My husband had the lobster bisque and the red fish. I also at the crème brule for desert. My husband at the Ramos Pinto Ruby Port. Overall the food is good. Especially for this area. There are very few nice restaurants in the area. Areas for improvement is service and the noise. I know they are a new place and I can only imagine how hard it is to find good staff in this area. Our server didn't know the menu very well and was very slow. Our app came out at various times. They tried to bring a few twice. The place is very loud when full. They need to put some foam under the tables to try to help. It is hard floor and high ceilings. The décor is clean and nice. I can see us coming back when we don't want to go into down town for a meal.

Wingstop

Excellent service and food. The main reason why I'm leaving a review is the compassion and caring I saw from the whole staff. A woman came in on a motorized scooter and they were so patient and helpful and compassionate. My eyes welled up watching the events unfold. Thank you .

Java Monkey

📍 Address: 425 Church St, Decatur

Let me start off by saying: do not crucify me. This is a trendy place, in a trendy neighborhood, frequented by trendy people - and if you want to follow the trend, go right ahead. But you would clearly not be looking for quality coffee. I would give this place only one star if it were not for the added "Trend Factor". And why, you may ask, would I only give it one star (if not for "trend factor")? If you can find a parking spot on any street within a three block radius, you need to have your pockets loaded down with quarters to feed the meters. Otherwise, you can park in the deck down the block, or the lot across the street. Both of which are going to cost you. The coffee is served in chipped, cracked, worn, and weathered mugs - as painted/glazed in the pottery place across the street. Chipped is a physical concern (cut lips, fingers, mouth, etc... on sharp edges), cracked is a health concern (bio-hazards hide where?). Cracks scare me for other reasons too (in case the mug breaks and hot coffee spills all over you). And worn/weathered mugs may SEEM totally hip at first, but just end up seeming childish and unprofessional. I understand that's it's supposed to give off the Indie-vibe, all anti-establishment and all... sure, I get that. But please - let's do in a way that won't get the company sued! No one likes court. But these are not even my biggest problems. My biggest problem is the fact that their coffee just isn't that good. The beans taste over-roasted, even perhaps (dare I say) slightly burned?! It seems very "starbucks" to me... and if I wanted that, I might as well just go around the corner to the actual starbucks! Like I said - trend factor bumps it up a notch: they do open mic nights, poetry slams, local singer/songwriters play, free (spotty) Wi-Fi, and they display consignment of local artists (painters, photogs, etc...) which is cool. But otherwise... blah. Not worth it.

Moonshine Patio Bar & Grill

📍 Address: 303 Red River St, Austin

Stars: (4.5)

Fantastic experience dining here. Nothing subpar. Warm brie appetizer was nice and balanced, the fruits and chutney complemented the cheese well. The entrée was executed with precision. The pan fried chicken was crispy and moist with a lemon caper sauce that added the right amount of kick. The star of my meal was the green chile cheese grits; smokey, spicy, and creamy. Service was great, food and drinks were served promptly and our server was helpful with recommendations. It was good enough I almost went back for dinner the same day.

Again if you want a great burger a different kind of burger. This place is unique and is so worth going here for some lunch of dinner.
