TILT

📍 Address: 1355 NW Everett St, Ste 120, Portland

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

LOUD but hey we are in the pearl so whatevs. The food is freaking stupid good. Like so bad for you and you know you are going to regret it, but good non the less. What does suck however is me waiting 20 min for a single salad to go.................. Especially when I see it sitting in the window all wrapped up and ready to go just waiting on your expo to figure it out. It wasn't even like it was busy it was 2:30 in the afternoon and there was only 3 other orders hanging..... Sooo if you are getting a to go I highly recommend calling it in unless you don't mind waiting half an hour while your food dies in the window.

Salty Sow

📍 Address: 1917 Manor Rd, Austin

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

Move over Barley Swine, once the lone pig in the popular mud pit, this little piggy is sassy, talented and tasty and where I'd rather dine. SS provides both quality and quantity where BS has quality but not quantity. SS has a larger menu and three times as much space for diners (both indoors and outdoors) plus a creative cocktail menu. And, thankfully, they take reservations unlike BS which sometimes has a 2 hour wait. The Auntie Pink, a sort of Margarita made with Ambroso la Rosa Tequila, lime, agave and a pink salt rim, was a perfect beginning cocktail for me. The tequila had an earthy bite to it and the sweet agave balanced the lime and salt flavors. Our charcuterie plate featured a number of lovely housemade pates, smoked salmon (to die for) and a delicious housemade eggplant caponata. Do yourself a favor and order the scrumptous Duck Fat Fries served with an egg on top with a tangy Bearnaise sauce but be sure to share it with at least two people because it is very filling. I adore duck and often find that it is overcooked or tough. Our attentive and wonderful server, Chris, assured me that the chef knew how to prepare this particular Duck Breast which is vacuum sealed during cooking and served with cardamon orange sauce, turnips and oil cured olives. It was superb! I paired the beautiful duck with a plate of Crispy Brussel Sprout Leaves delivered with golden raisins and pecorino cheese. We decided on a fantastic Chocolate Peanut Butter Crunch Mousse for dessert which was served in a jar topped with almond brittle! How cute is that?! It was not only cute but one of the most imaginative desserts I've had in a while. At one point, my brother got up to use the restroom and when he returned he said, "I'm pretty sure I just used the wrong restroom." Beware, gentlemen, the women's restroom has a pig in pink heels on the door. I don't know that many men who wear them but perhaps my bro does.

Culver's

📍 Address: 3148 N Orange Blossom Trl, Kissimmee

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

Nothing says "America" like having a place that serves burgers, fries, cheese curds, and just about every iteration of frozen dessert ever conceived. Yeah, about now you should be realizing, just as I had, that YES-- "Culver's" is awesome! For those of you who've never been, it's a bit like if you combined "Steak n' Shake" and "Whataburger." (Recipe for success). Their burgers are delicious and I love the thankfully ACTUALLY CRISPY crinkle-cut fries that other chains often skimp on. The cheese curds are fried and delicious in the good spirit of the Midwest that honors such a delicacy. This place is also famous for their "Cement Mixer" treat which is basically custard with mix-ins... But, try and tell me you still wouldn't buy that. Also, you can buy FOUR PINTS of their own brand of frozen custard for TEN DOLLARS. #awesome

Cedar's Restaurant

📍 Address: 7732 W Sand Lake Rd, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

We arrived at Cedar's and were promptly seated. It took longer than expected for the waiter to come to our table even though it was Sunday evening and they were only a few families there. When the waiter did show up he took our beverage order and left as soon as I was about to order appetizers - (I was almost cut off in mid -sentence!) At this point the owner came and asked if we were being served, I told him no, he then expedited service to our table. I ordered chicken livers and was told that they were out of chicken livers in a somewhat rude tone by the waiter. This particular dish was the reason for us going there. We have dined here before and know that their service and food is usually excellent. I don't know what was happening on this particular occasion , but we had to leave for another restaurant to celebrate my wife's birthday. I still would recommend this restaurant because this unfortunate incident in an exception to their general rule of good food and service.

Grand Chinatown

📍 Address: 21 Billings Rd, Quincy

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐ (2.5)

Typical Chinatown Chinese food. -Calamari - okay... -Pea Pod Stem - can't go wrong with that -Lobster Dish - okay -Shrimp with Walnuts - taste like usual. If you don't want to venture into Chinatown, this may be a place to go. They have a parking lot in the pack too. Street parking doesn't seem too difficult either.

Applebee's Grill + Bar

📍 Address: 11A Allstate Rd, South Bay Shopping Center, South Bay Shopping Center, Dorchester

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐ (2.5)

I suppose I am not surprised that Applebee's has 2 stars but I was quite pleased with my time here. The waitress was so cute and friendly. Very helpful and when I told her that she admitted it was only her second day! Good job girl! The food was actually great. I tried the chicken wonton tacos (with no cilantro) and it was very filling and very cheap. Most appetizers are half price from 9-12pm so we got chicken quesadillas, boneless wings, and spinach and artichoke dip all half off. All were good and filling. Plus, who can go wrong with a $4 margarita! We had a great time and I usually don't go to chain restaurants, but this Applebee's did a good job!
