Lamberts Downtown Barbecue

📍 Address: 401 W 2nd St, Austin

Stars: (4)

I really liked the interior, the band and the deviled eggs. I kind of liked the drinks. My brisket was not good. It was overcooked and tough. My wife's steak was not good - tough piece of meat. My dad's ribs were not good - they tasted like meaty apples, which I guess I should get used to with genetically modified foods and all, but you understand. Good place for drinks, listening to music and having a deviled egg eating contest.

Porter Cafe

📍 Address: 1723 Centre St, West Roxbury

Stars: (4.5)

If this restaurant was in downtown Boston, it would get four stars...but five stars given the area and one of the best restaurants around! Small and tight seating is the only downside. Good beer selection, consistent and great menu.

Kona Grill

📍 Address: 11410 Century Oaks Ter, Austin

Only been to Kona during HH 5-7pm and 9-11pm. I've only had the California roll and Philly roll and loved both of them! The place is packed during HH!!! I mean PACKED!!! And everyone is all dressed up and like theyre bout to go down town afterwards, haha. Overall I love coming here for HH prices and great sushi!

Hyatt Regency - Austin

📍 Address: 208 Barton Springs Rd, Austin

I would like to take this time to thank you for your assistance regarding my wedding on September 27, 2015. We were able to get all of our family and friends seated outside along with all of the wedding party, the center table, electrical setup along with the photographer. Subsequently when we went upstairs, after the wedding pictures, and saw the setup locations for the gift table, the area that allowed all of the guests to see and know where they would be seated as well as the tables where all of the wonderful cuisine would be, I was so happy. Then to walk into the room and saw where family and guests would be seated along with my cake that really set the tone for me for the rest of my wonderful day. It was all so elegant. I would just like to commend you and everyone that assisted to make my day a wonderful day. It was just a great completion for me. It was a wonderful day for us all.

Zaftigs Delicatessen - Brookline

📍 Address: 335 Harvard St, Brookline

Stars: (4)

Zaftigs has been a priority breakfast destination since my friends and I heard about it last spring. We knew about the outlandish waits during any normal meal time, which is the reason it took us almost a year to take the plunge. Nothing was going to stop us last Sunday, though. We were determined. Well, at least 2/6 of our party was determined. We showed up at 12:30, which was our first mistake. The hostesses were all a bit short-tempered, but I would be too if my workspace was overrun with dozens of hungry patrons asking me "how long now?!" every two seconds. We received our expected "wait time quote" of at least an hour, and helped ourselves to the sublime Relax The Back next door (coolest chairs and nicest owner ever! Do your body a favor and stop in there if you have some time to kill). At the 50-minute mark, 4/6 of our party decided to opt out, leaving just Jessie and me. We finally got seated a few minutes after 1:30, and the service was pretty standard. No complaints. Our coffee and water cups were never empty, and the food came pretty quickly. They also served a variety of bagel chips with delicious cream cheese as a free appetizer. A friendly bus boy even gave us a free sample during our wait! Definitely a perk. The food was okay. Not bad at all, but definitely nothing remotely worth waiting over an hour for. Jessie had the Roughrider Omelette (corned beef hash, onions and Vermont Cheddar), and I had my usual make-your-own omelette with onions, broccoli, spinach, mushrooms and American cheese (at $0.95 a piece, even for the onions). I know, I didn't try any of their Jewish delicacies. Shame on me. But after waiting so long, I was cranky and ordered the food I was craving. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't amazing. Kinda like this review = pretty average, mediocre, gargantuan, and kinda boring. In all fairness, we probably would've gotten sat in 45 minutes had it just been Jessie and me from the get-go, but even that is still an unwarranted wait time. I don't really understand the hype. I can pay just as much for a tastier omelette at Trident on Newbury. And what really pissed me off while we were waiting was the many tables I spotted that went uncleared for like 15 minutes. I know it's busy but 15 minutes? There's no excuse for that. Judging by the attitude I picked up from the hostesses and owner who happened to be there, it's almost as if they pride themselves on how long people are willing to wait for their "famous" (average) food. When we left around 3:15, the place was completely empty, which I hear is commonplace. If I ever come back, it will only be because it's convenient and I can be seated right away.
