I kniw this is not the best Chinese food, but the cuisine is fairly authentic. Plus it's right in the middle of campus, so I go there reguarly with my friends. Noodles are my favorite. Service is okay, but the landlady is really really nice.

I stupidly was feeling adventuresome in ordering Chinese food tonight, and they just mailed a menu to my house so I ordered. Never mind the hour it took to get here, but my pork and eggplant looked and tasted like gruel. I paid $20 for one dish and scallion pancakes, before delivery fee and tip. I'm tearing up the menu right now. I'm just hoping my stomach doesn't reject what I was able to eat.
Bamboo Sushi
📍 Address: 836 NW 23rd Ave, Portland
⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)
Love, love, love this place. The food is excellent, and the service is generally great. Bamboo is always a stop for al least one meal when I am in Portland. It's a shame they don't make reservations, but it's worth the wait.
Simplicity Wine & Eats
📍 Address: 4801 Burnet Rd, Austin

I'm updating my original post (keeping it @ 4 stars) to point out that they have simplified their menu. The hubby and I stopped by late in the afternoon on a Saturday and were plesantly surprised to see specials on a menu board now. $4 glass of yummy pinot noir?? Yes please. They've streamlined the menu, which can only mean the food will be getting more love and attention. We had a watermelon and feta salad that was really refreshing. And to keep the warm feelings I have for this place going, the next day at my local HEB we run into our waiter in the aisle and he remembers us. That's always a sign of good service. I hope Simplicity continues to grow and thrive, because it's just the right type of modern and laid-back that Austin needs.
Giacomo's Ristorante - Boston
📍 Address: 355 Hanover St, Boston

It doesn't get any better than Giacomo's on Boston's North End. Yes, you have to wait in line but it's more than worth it. Tony is great and makes you feel right at home as a single diner. The problem here is deciding what to order. I went with Shrimp, Scallops and Lobster in their special Fra Como lobster sauce. Unbeatable on any level. Just go eat here. Period.

I went on a weekend evening with 2 girlfriends so it was slammed. It was a lot of hassle at first. We were told it would be an hour wait. We walked to Krog Street and came back 45 min later and the host said it would be another 45 minutes. He said we had only been waiting 15 min. We spoke with someone else, who happened to be the manager who did his very best to seat us as quickly as possible. Our server was fabulous and coached us through the menu as first timers. The manager checked us as well. We shared about 5-6 tapas and had sangria and wine. Everything was delicious! It's definitely the place to be! I didn't see them on open table, which would have made our night go smoother.
