Union Oyster House

📍 Address: 41 Union St, Boston

Stars: (3.5)

Really nice people! The food was great and better than expected, but what I really loved was from my greeting through the food, the lady who sat us, when I got lost headed to the bathroom and when I got lost going back to my table...everyone was just super nice.

Top of the Hub

📍 Address: 800 Boylston St, Ste 52, Boston

Stars: (3.5)

The majority of these reviews have the same thread that the TOH is famous for the views but lacking elsewhere. From the mediocre food to the stained ceilings to the now shabby ambiance this venue needs help. Hope to see new management or some sort of exceptional energy to turn this around back into a world class establishment. Here is hoping.

Mexas Tacos

📍 Address: 8788 Vineland Ave, Orlando

Stars: (4.5)

This is not American Mexican Taco Bell food! This is authentic Mexican meats and tacos! I got two sopes and three tacos! My mom is Mexican, so I love finding true Mexican dishes, something I would find in Mexico. American Mexican food is okay, but not what my grandmother made at the dinner table. This place really is a hidden gem, and so glad we found since we like to go to Disney and enjoy the parks. The service was fantastic as well, really over the top excellence of making a customer feel welcomed. I also loved that they had authentic Mexican classic drinks available as well

Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

📍 Address: 22 SW 3rd Ave, Portland

Stars: (3.5)

Voodoo Doughnut is always exciting regardless of the taste. The bright pink, the crazy doughnuts, the glitter on the bricks, the anticipation waiting in line... Once Helena H brought me a box of Voodoo Doughnuts from Denver and that was so nice. Going there in person in Portland was just as sweet. We chose the Mango Tango, Diablo Rex (for the design), Guava Colada, and of course Voodoo Doll (again for the design). I didn't care for the Diablo Rex (bland). The filling of the Mango Tango was way too much and way too sweet. Guava Colada was just right. The subdued guava filling and coconut frosting was a great combination. The Voodoo Doll was the classic chocolate yeast doughnut and more of what you'd expect when eating doughnuts for breakfast. Overall, way too much doughnut for four people and it took us two days to finish them. I've had better doughnuts at a myriad of places but Voodoo Donuts is a fun experience. Definitely try it once and also if you are in the area. Otherwise go to Blue Star for repeat visits.

Broder Café

📍 Address: 2508 SE Clinton St, Portland

Stars: (4.5)

I'm SO SORRY to say this but this place did not meet my expectations. Maybe I set my expectations too high? I found this place months ago and had been waiting and waiting to come. I would check out the pictures of food that were posted by other Yelpers and would just dream about coming here for breakfast. When I finally got the chance...it was a disappointment. Don't get me wrong, this place was still good, but it wasn't GREAT, like how I imagined. Food: 1) Danish pancakes: very interesting, instead of being flat and round, it was in a shape of a ball, topped with powdered sugar and served with jam and syrup. It had the components of regular pancakes but it's disguised in a different shape just to spice things up. I enjoyed a different presentation, but the taste was just so so for me. 2) Fish fillet baked scramble(??): I'm sorry, my memory escapes me, I just remembered it was a baked scramble with bits of fish in it, but I don't remember the intimate details. It's mainly because I didn't really enjoy the dish. I found it largely tasteless. No impact on my taste buds. But I must say, FANTASTIC presentation on the food! The scramble came on a mini iron skillet and the handle came with it's own mini oven mitt. Aww, so cute. Yes, it was. It also came with some home fries or potatoes, which I'm not a big fan of potatoes. Service: Very nice and friendly. No complaints here. Ambiance: It's small and quaint. Very loud and busy. It's difficult to even carry on a conversation with a person sitting across a small table from you. It's not a lazy place to go to for breakfast and try to enjoy a nice newspaper with some coffee after you are done eating. It's a place that you eat and go home because there is a HUGE line of people waiting outside the door for your table. Price: It's decently priced for breakfast food. Overall: I think it was a gallant effort with amazing presentation, but the food didn't really wow me like I thought it would. It was just mediocre. I still think Mother's Bistro is #1.
