Potbelly Sandwich Shop

First timer here. Potbelly sounds like the name of a BBQ joint but it's apparently a sandwich shop. The food is good. The selection is decent without being overwhelming. I like the "skinny" sandwich option which offers less bread, less meat, and less cheese. I'll likely become a semi-regular, but I knocked a star off because the employees have zero personality or customer service skills. The girl taking the order kept trying to push me off to the sandwich topping guy before asking me if I wanted anything else (which I did. The sandwich topping guy handed me my sandwich with the most blank face, it was just awkward. Then I get to the register and I don't mind waiting because there is a supervisor (or similar?) doing something on the register while the cashier stands by, but a smile or "be right with you" is typical in order in the name of good customer service. Instead I just waited silently until they were through, then supervisor walked away and cashier asked what I ordered. Anyway, service aside, still recommended as a good alternative to Subway and the like.

Good music, lots of space, fine portions and a good selection of eats. Poutine and Turkey Panini were delicious. Definitely want to return here.

Ok, it's a good sandwich but the service really needs to be stepped up. I'd give it 2.5 stars but instead of rounding up like last time, I'm now rounding downward. I just got home to tear into my bahn mi to discover they screwed it up. So disappointed. The line of customers was steady today but not overpowering for two guys working the sandwich making process. However, they seemed rushed with sandwiches being moved around and orders repeated to each other. I ordered the BBQ Pork (which includes kimchi). Maybe it's because my previous review mentioned the kimchi was a bit overpowering that I received karmic backlash today, but today's bahn mi contained ZERO kimchi. WTF? I get home, unroll it and stand stunned that it's missing a key ingredient -- the whole spicy reason that I ordered it. I also found it odd that everyone before and after me was asked if they wanted cilantro and jalapenos, but I was never asked. I ended up getting both, which I wanted, but it highlights their inconsistent service. Photo sans kimchi: http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bLpBq0FlNmKH3UO1Ms0vSQ?select=0Vnmm7i4A9EpLOqUH7mkcg#jeOO7eLLi2bYmropCthEFQ I noticed that the guy ahead of me was given a sandwich that was just finished being made but I was given a sandwich already wrapped up on the counter. To doublecheck it was mine, I confirmed with the cashier that it was the BBQ pork. He confirmed and it was labeled as such without any customizations. Grrr .... eating my unspicy bahn mi and grumbling.

Food and wine are amazing.. I liked every bite. the only reason I can't give it 5 stars is price and portions.. for a 4 course tasting menu at $78/pp I left really hungry!! The portions were so small. I am blown away that for a $300 dinner for 2 people I could leave needing to heat up some of my son's mac and cheese when I got home. Anyhow- maybe if you stay away from the prix fixed.. you might be less hungry.

The best restaurant in Portland (that I've been to). This place was phenomenal. Dim-lit and a little speak easyish, but with large floor to ceiling windows and weathered and creaky wood floors. Cocktails: Amazing, well-crafted drinks with a bit of an old fashioned feel. Very fresh ingredients. We had the B.M.O.C., and a Moscow Mule and both were fantastic. (They make their own ginger beer mmmmm. . . ) Food: Truffle popcorn was to die for and was inhaled in about 2 seconds by 4 fairly small women. We each got a different meal which meant we got to try a little bit of everything. My favorites: Asparagus ravioli and the Hanger steak. Honorable mention goes to the cioppino type dish and the extras on the pork loin (don't eat pork so no comment on that). The service was helpful, efficient and courteous. *Bonus: our server was super cute and friendly :) Will definitely come back here if in Portland again and I HIGHLY recommend this as a must-go place when in the city.
