I've driven past this strip mall diner dozens of times and never noticed it, in spite of all the Florida State Trooper and Orange County Sheriffs department cars that are often parked out front. Maybe you missed it too. That's a shame. The friendly folks who run Chubby's Family Diner serve some good diner type food, killer breakfasts, and one of the finest hamburgers I have had in a long time. It seems that every time I mentioned Chubby's to people I met in the area, they all said more or less the same thing: "Chubby's has the best breakfast in town. Be sure to try the biscuits and gravy." or "Be sure to try one of the skillet breakfasts." I have to agree, this is one finer diner. They serve your usual diner favorites, like meat loaf or fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, accompanied with the usual sides, ie: meat and three, in dinerspeak. And hearty delicious breakfasts. About the hamburgers: Chubby's 'signature' burger, a 6-ounce beef patty piled with white American cheese and more than a few slices of smoky ham may be a bit over the top, and difficult to compare with other eateries, so this time I sampled a regular hamburger. I requested it cooked medium rare, deluxe. Thats with lettuce, tomato, pickle, mayonnaise and onion, in diner speak. A few minutes later, to my great surprise and delight, the burger arrived exactly as I had ordered it! In the bun was a juicy ground beef patty, brown on the outside, pink on the inside. WOW! Of course the requested vegetable toppings were there, and as fresh as you could ask for. The sweet server brought extra napkins and said: "you're gonna need these, hon." She was right. The yummy juices ran out with with each delightful bite of this delicious bit of ground beef on a bun. My huge glass of sweet iced tea never, ever reached the 'half empty' point. The fries were normal sized, and done just right. My entire meal, including the tip, was only about nine bucks. Why is it so difficult to find a simple thing like a hamburger cooked medium rare in Orlando? At Chubby's, thats what they'll do, if you ask.

Don't expect too much going to this place. After reading the reviews made sure not to order food and only drinks, the tap beers were poor. Decor outdated and run down, service below par. This is a outdated tourist trap looks like from the 80s. There are plenty of better places in town.

I understand that popular breakfast places mean long waits on the weekend, inattentive service, the kitchen getting half your order wrong, your coffee finally arriving after you've called for the bill, & c. That's not why the one star. No, the one star is entirely due to getting boiled carrots in my vegetable omelette. Even if you're screwing up *which* vegetables I asked for in my omelette, which is expected, who on earth would think that combination palatable? It's scary to think that even a remotely seasoned cook would make this mistake. Also, who keeps boiled carrots on hand anyway?

I just like the fresh flavor. I am vegetarian so I cannot comment on the meat but the veggies are always fresh. Their guacamole is consistently awesome and has a great flavor. I've had their small burritos which are plenty filling but the large is awesome too! This place gets a thumbs up for fast service, consistent fresh quality, and for always being there.
