Renaissance Orlando Airport Hotel

📍 Address: 5445 Forbes Pl, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

After walking into what I THOUGHT was a very nice hotel, I was more than excited to stay the night with a few girlfriends. Enjoying our one weekend out of town together.. First off the room was not very clean, full of dust and WE had to wipe everything down to include the bathroom counter and tables. After a long day/night out in the town we get back to the hotel to find that the key cards do not work on the door.. After speaking with the front desk multiple times and security coming up to try and get in as well, come to find out that the battery for the door lock is dead.. They have no way to get us into our room.. So we are without ALL of our personal items, clothing, toothbrushes as well as personal medication.. They set us up in a room a few doors down until the electrician could come in at 8am and get into the room.. They gave us complimentary breakfast, which was NOT good by any means.. Nor is it good for those with dietary restrictions which for 4/5 of us, who do not consume pork, there were only 2 meat options, both pork as well as being lactose intolerant and only having milk that we cannot drink. The fruit did not look fresh, the eggs with running and seemed uncooked.. When we finally got back into the room around 830am, there was no key and no way for us to all go downstairs to sit and enjoy any remaining breakfast that we may be able to eat.. Having to take turns coming down and bringing food back to the room.. The staff in the cafe was very rude and was overheard talking about us as we walked away.. ONLY POSITIVES, was the manager Josh as well as the woman on security the night of the incident being very kind and understanding of our needs, bringing toothbrushes and tooth paste, an extra bed and complimentary water (which if you're asking, I think should have already been free and offered to every guest)

Got the spicy chicken sandwich. Loved it. Better than chick fil IMO. Can't speak for sides though, my fries seemed old.

Bun Cha Ca Hoang Yen

📍 Address: 5083 Victoria Drive, Vancouver

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

This place has a line even on a Saturday afternoon non lunch hour. First time at Hoang Yen and I'm impressed!!! Their rendition of Bun Rieu is truly mouthwatering and I would come back even just for this one dish. The crab meats are not in clumps, but the soup is delicious . Sadly, there is no fish cake in the Bun Rieu though. Bun Cha Ca Dat Biet is a clear broth full of dill flavour which is interesting to me. The fish cake tastes good. Will definitely be back to have more bun Rieu and order a dish of fried fish cake on the side.

Huong Vietnamese Restaurant

📍 Address: 1270 Morse Rd, Columbus

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

Pros: -friendly server and staff -easy to order (write your own order on a memo pad) -big menu with lots of variety -very reasonable prices (most entrees were under $10) -hot sauce and silverware already at the table -portions were generous -ample parking lot Cons: -actual taste of food was only average. I was kind of bummed about this because the presentation was great. I've tried a LOT of pho and grilled pork vermicelli dishes in my day but this place just did not have that certain tastiness -bathroom was super tiny, cramped and needed a code to get in -lighting was really unflattering, dim. Funny part was the odd assortment of Christmas lights and kitsch that gave you epilepsy from all the crazy colored lights. There was also an OLD, small TV that played Christmas music videos rather loudly on loop

Sala and Betty

📍 Address: 5201 Airport Blvd, Austin

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

The company I formerly worked for was having their anniversary in Austin. The ladies from Pittsburgh called me to meet them for lunch the day of their arrival. The first suggestion was HopDoddy on Congress. That means I would park at the hotel and we would Uber or walk over. Then I checked about parking at the Hilton ($40. a day no short term). Since that was way more then I even planned for lunch, I shot that idea down. They decided I should pick a place and gave me the criteria. Not spicy, no weird food, huge portions, and low carb, it was at this point I thought about cancelling the lunch. But thanks to Yelp...Sala and Betty seemed to fit the bill. The time was to be at noon, but plane delays moved the time to 1PM. I was the first to arrive then Shirley. We got a table near the back and the last two arrived. This unique place is like a homey diner with a drive thru. Some tables outside in front and more tables inside, not a lot but enough. Our waitress was a hoot, she kept us laughing and let us linger long after we finished eating. Oh, the food. I ordered the Mexican meatloaf with garlic green beans and mixed roasted vegetables. Two of the ladies ordered a salad, salads are small or regular. One had to pick off avocados on her salad but otherwise, they both loved them. The last lady had the Mister T with cauliflower bread. She thought it would be a sandwich to pick up but it was more of a knife and fork plate. She loved the taste. My meal was incredible. Meatloaf flavorful, green beans crispy, mixed veggies plenty and good. The star of my meal was the smoked tomato aioli. My dinner mates kept dunking their fries in it. I would buy a quart of this it was so good. Pricing was very reasonable for what you got. Too bad it is so far for me to drive to or I'd be going weekly

Southside Flying Pizza

📍 Address: 2702 E Cesar Chavez St, Austin

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

Great pie! I had them deliver tonight and ordered an XL Cheese and a sixer if garlic knots w/marinara. 30 minutes to pizza seemed reasonable. Grubhub managed the order and they were right on the dot for me. Pizza looked amazing and still quite hot with their crisp crust.
