gusto!

📍 Address: 782 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta

Stars: (4.5)

What a great surprise! I've been trying to watch what I eat, and get a bit healthier, which is challenging when dining out. Gusto! made it easier for me. Tasty food that's closer to the heathy side, without being boring. Gusto! offers three options: salads, wraps, or bowls. You decide which you would like, and then add in a protein (or mushrooms) and then decide on a flavor finisher. I ended up with a bowl with half salad, half brown rice, nicely seasoned grilled chicken, and a chipotle mango salsa with avocado. It was very tasty and flavorful. I didn't catch the whole menu, but a Thai inspired peanut sauce option caught my eye also. There were about six or so others choices, also. A bag of sweet potato chips (house made perhaps?) is served with your meal. I will definitely return.

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

📍 Address: 6813 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando

Rating the southern chicken biscuit breakfast meal- not really bad but not all that good. Otherwise, service very good and place was nice. I should come back and review another meal and maybe the pie.

Joy Cafe

📍 Address: 1100 Peachtree St NE, Ste 110, Atlanta

Awesome service! The parking in the building was a flat 5 dollars if you paid on top of your bill which was a deal. Super easy to get to.. the service was top notch! I had the chilaquiles which was a staff pick.. good overall but was expecting tortilla chips. This recipe used a mash of some sort.. good but not too ten. Everything else was for sure.. my kids loved the French toast!

Valentino's New York Style Pizza & Restaurant

📍 Address: 3550 S Washington Ave, Titusville

I can only give Valentino's 3 stars because after going to this establishment for the 2nd time, I am still not impressed with the food. I will do this review based on my most recent experience which is only fair. Hubby and I really felt like cooking so we decided to order Philly steaks. I called our go to establishment forgetting it was Wednesday and they were closed. So we decided to try Valentino's. I give them a call, place the order, the guy on the line says 15 minutes. Botta bing. Botta boom. Didn't ask my name or anything. Ok. I go to pick them up (right at 5 PM) the place is practically empty, it's dark in there and as I am walking to the pick up counter I pass 2 tables been used by the wait staff to roll silverware! I realize this has to be done, but in the main aisle that customers are walking by to get to the salad bar? Really? During service hours? I get to the pick up counter and there was a very nice lady that greeted me, ask me if I would like to see a take-out menu or how could she help me? I told her I had already called in an order and she let the guys behind the counter know. I paid for my food and came home. Oh to my disappointment when I took the first bite... This sand which was supposed to have green pepper, onion, and mushrooms. All I could taste was meat. Not steak. Maybe steak-ums, but not real steak and some kind of strange roll. Idk what it was. I was very disappointed and so was my hubby. I don't think there will be a third time at Valentino's for us.

The Original Dinerant

📍 Address: 300 SW 6th Ave, Portland

Stars: (3.5)

In me and my family's past experience, this place has been a 5 star establishment. Now, there is a new executive chef who doesn't know that the heck doing, at least with regard to poutine. Poutine is made with cheese curds - NOT PIZZA CHEESE!!! it's not pizza- it's frikin' poutine! Don't screw with tradition!!! Mozzarella is bland and has a weird texture. It doesn't fit the dish. My family and I have a hard time finding places that make poutine, and even harder of a time that makes poutine correctly. We were always able to count on this restaurant to have the best poutine with ACTUAL curds. To everyone reading this, join me in the fight against fake poutine and stand with the curds! P.S. ease up on the salt dudes.

The Hawthorne

📍 Address: 500A Commonwealth Ave, Boston

Stars: (4.5)

If I lived in Boston, I would come here every day. Lovely decor, appropriate sound level, great drinks; it has everything a lounge should have. I was in town, staying at the attached hotel, and I decided I wanted a drink while finishing up some work. You know how if you're by yourself, and you walk into a bar, you look like a lame and the hostess gives that glance of judgement as if to say "hmmm, at a bar alone, huh?"...no judgement here! I went to the bar where there were a couple of other solo-travelers and everything was fine. I ordered the my little Annabel, which was just what I was looking for. Average cocktail was about 12 bucks, with full options for beers, wines and spirits. I also got some cheese, a good portion for $7. So, if you're in Boston, please go so I can live vicariously through you.
