Catedral Tapatia

📍 Address: 707 SE 164th Ave, Vancouver

It's a pretty cool place. The church used to be a brewery not too long ago. The service is prompt and courteous; the food quality is decent, but it's not the best. The food matches its value, however. It's certainly one of the better Mexican places in east Vancouver. I usually order a chicken enchilada and the sauce was good.

Shiki

📍 Address: 9 Babcock St, Brookline

edit: uneven, was served still frozen sashimi. when they asked if everything was ok, I told them and they gave us a free ice cream. even my 5 year old saw the irony in that!!! I think they may be turning the service issue around. There is one rude waitress that really ruins it, maybe two but only one that I consistently remember. Anyway tonight they had a large party also there and the restaurant was well staffed. Two previous servers that I remebrer are quite nice were also there. Why do I bother returning? Because it is one of the best restaurants in the area, and I love authentic Japanese food. Nearly everything I've had except the stuffed squid has been fabulous at dinner time. I think lunch tends to be leftovers as it doesn't taste as fresh. Just order anything, fabulous. Their beef dishes, cold and hot appetizers, soups... I haven't tried everything yet...fried foods ...

Deschutes Brewery Portland Public House

📍 Address: 210 NW 11th Ave, Portland

We happened to be in Portland during a micro-brewery festival so it was VERY busy and that might have colored our experience here. I love that they leave bottles of water on your table because we had DEFINITELY had too much to drink the night before. Service was pleasant but on the slow side. I ordered off the specials menu and had a fabulous bison burger with pork belly cooked just right and juicy. The squash soup with goat cheese I ordered as a side was lackluster. El Husbando ordered the mac and cheese.... and I feel like words do not express the awfulness of this mac and cheese. Very clear flavors of butter and carmelized onion, but that's all these noodles had to offer. The sauce was downright liquid and it appeared they had just tossed a handful of "processed cheese product" on top, set it in the salamander and sent it out. Disgraceful! Beer selections were tasty. Highly recommend the cherry-flavored sour.

Fuego Food Carts Burritos & Bowls

📍 Address: 682 NW 12th Ave, Portland

Super awesome, healthy bowls (or burritos) of goodness. Choose either chicken or veggies, with a load of beans, rice with all the toppings you'd want. Great price, quick, friendly and SO delish. Glad she's only a short walk from the office. Why would you go to Chipotle's? I'm SO confused. Come here instead, it's only a couple blocks away!

I had friends visiting from California this week. Early on in their trip they were introduced to the Black Butte Porter at another restaurant. Being Guinness lovers, they were thrilled to find a worthy adversary in the BBP. So I thought it would be appropriate to take them to the brewery so they could try it fresh on tap. Unfortunately they didn't have it on nitro last night, but that didn't stop us from enjoying a round. We didn't order food last night, but in the past I've had their burger, pizza, and pretzel and all are fresh & tasty. I tried the Oktoberfest brew since it wasn't on tap when I was last in a few weeks ago. It wasn't my favorite; I probably should have ordered an IPA. But that's what the growler's for, right? We filled our growler with King Cone and will be cracking that open shortly.

Perkins Restaurant & Bakery

📍 Address: 6813 Sand Lake Rd, Orlando

Walked in here yesterday because we wanted to grab a quick breakfast. Once seated, it took almost 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence. People around us were waiting on food and didn't look happy at all. We waited a few more minutes and then simply left. The restaurant wasn't packed. It's obvious they're short-staffed.
