Cafe Java- Austin

📍 Address: 11900 Metric Blvd, Ste K, Austin

Stars: (4.5)

This is by far the best breakfast that we've had in Texas. I had the hill country breakfast; biscuits and gravy, sausage, eggs and hashbrowns for $8.29. Wife got the blueberry pancakes with bacon. Both were excellent. Tip: their fresh salsa on the hashbrowns was amazing.

Rustic Kitchen

📍 Address: 210 Stuart St, Boston

Stars: (3.5)

If it wasn't for this restaurant's prime location - with its constant flow of tourist traffic - it's not likely the place would survive. Unsuspecting out-of-towners are lured by an eclectic menu offering the likes of Gorgonzola-stuffed figs and honey-roasted pears, and a centerpiece wood oven one expects is capable of turning out savory roasted and grilled meats and seafood. The outdoor patio is also appealing in warm weather. What looks good on the surface, however, is a far cry from the reality underneath. The food is mediocre at best. The salad greens were tired, their dressing bland. Salmon was bone-dry and flavorless, its only saving grace the large capers with it. They inexplicably had run out of bread, in an area spittin' distance from some of the best bakeries in the city. Service was excrutiatingly slow and inattentive; it took three requests before water glasses were refilled. And the alfresco dining wasn't much of a treat after all, given the noise of the street performers. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that there wasn't one local among the crowd, because those in the know know enough to stay away.

Cafe Java- Austin

Cafe Java needs no introduction. Great li'l cafe in North Austin. Can get crowded at times (usually packed), but the wait is short and is always worth it. Everything I have tried (breakfast, burgers, sandwiches) is top notch, and the staff is pretty helpful and friendly. Highly recommended i fyou want something good without being fancy.

This place is alriggtt. The people are good, real folks. I will be back, & probably remembered, & certainly welcomed.

Staplehouse

📍 Address: 541 Edgewood Ave SE, Atlanta

I've visited Staplehouse about 10 times - twice in the past two weeks. Reservations are a pain to get now that it keeps winning awards. What stands out? The love and care that's in each dish. I haven't found any place in the south doing food on this level. And to make it even better the crowd, atmosphere, and staff are completely unpretentious. You can dress up, wear jeans, come straight from work, etc. no one cares. They just want you to have amazing food. I will say it took a small step back when they removed the prix fix chef's menu. That's when it reminded me of Aterra in NYC, but half the price. For two people 6 plates should be enough, depending on how many proteins you order. The servers are very knowledgeable about the ingredients (with a few rare exceptions where they go find out). The wine list is not extremely extensive but it's well curated and notable. The mixologists are as passionate as the chefs. Tip: don't overlook the simple sounding items on the menu. For example, the chef's grandma's bread is to die for, as well as the almond salad. #1 restaurant in Atlanta in my opinion and possibly the best for the price in the U.S.

Madras Pavilion

📍 Address: 9025 Research Blvd, Ste 100, Austin

Stars: (3.5)

It's my favorite vegetarian restaurant. It's my favorite Indian restaurant. Seriously, this place is great. The lunch buffet is where it's at. Stuff your face with the most delicious South Indian food in Austin - all vegetarian - for a reasonable price.
