The Salt Lick BBQ

📍 Address: 18300 Fm 1826, Driftwood

I was in Austin TX, on business and someone mentioned the Salt Lick. OMG!!!!!! Best I have ever had. It is cash only and B.Y.O.B. You can also go to their wine cellars that are next to the restaurant and buy eaither a glass or a bottle and bring it back to the restaurant. My girlfriend is not a big BBQ fan and she fell in love with it! She loved the Turkey! THIS IS THE BEST!!!

Tijuana Flats

📍 Address: 9161 Narcoossee Rd., Ste. 110, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

This used to be one of my favorite places to eat. However, I have been disappointed the last 4-5 tomes I have eaten at this particular store. Both the food and the customer service seem to have gone downhill. 'I'm sad to say I no longer have confidence that this Tijuana Flats consistently provides customers with delicious food and service.

Burgers are best in town. Fries are great, too. Try the Bite Burger - scirracha mayo makes it!!!

Best curry I've had in Orlando. I've been here twice (once on a weekend night and once on a weekday night) and both times they were extremely busy. You wouldn't really guess that it is that busy considering it looks like it's closed from the outside. The servers are kind of running all over the place - seating whoever they can and serving whoever they can. It's understandable when you're trying to run a small establishment and having such a high influx of guests coming in. I ordered the Massaman Curry (chidken) and my boyfriend ordered the Spicy Basil Duck. Both very delicious and reasonably priced. I'm not a fan of duck, but the crisp way it is cooked gives it tons of flavor, paired perfectly with peppers and onions. Though I felt that the food to rice ratio wasn't equal. Maybe it's just my inner Asian culture speaking out - since we eat rice with everything! I do like the table side chili powder, crushed peanuts, and spicy chili sauce that you can personally add to whatever you order. My only downside to this place - which is why I didn't give it a full 5 stars is the service. While they are doing their best to deliver the best food and try to accommodate every seated customer - it does stray away from the "your server serves your table" aspect. There were times when we needed something and our server was busy bustling around helping other tables, seat people, and bring silverware back. I wish our server could have asked how our food were, if it came out all right, and if we needed anything.

It's definitely like no other! Off the beaten path for sure but so worth the trip, and the wait. Be prepared to wait out on the courtyard for hours when it's busy. BYOB for outside and enjoy some music, a nice breeze, and families gathering. Once inside you'll be confronted by one of the biggest pit BBQ setups you'll find. It's quite impressive. No frills here, everything is served family style to share in huge portions that keep coming. Sides are great too, and the pickles. Personal fave is the brisket, ok the ribs too. The smoke smears and taste is in everything. I promise you will be satisfied and bursting full too. Cannot wait to be back in Austin and go again. I go every time I'm in the area.

Row 34

Came here on Sunday 6/26 with a friend of mine who was visiting from out of town and wanted a "taste of Boston" - I must say, I am completely and utterly embarrassed by this experience from start to finish. A huge mistake on my behalf for selecting this place to show my buddy some good Bostonian fare, but this place was an absolute train wreck and I will NEVER go back. First, on Sunday's their brunch format is a communal style, you seat yourself, you order from a location at the bar then they bring you your food and drinks (that's the extent of the service you can expect during this format). When your ordering, you feel rushed and under the gun since there's 10 people behind you that are also presumably hungry and waiting in a long line, horrible start to a relaxing brunch. Second, when I dine out and spend the amount of money I spent at this place, I want an experience. The order taker offered me absolutely nothing pertaining to menu feedback or even a small degree of personality. I asked about the steamers not being on the brunch menu, oh we don't do that for our brunch "service" - if that's what you want to call it. This place doesn't even have a liquor license to serve the classic brunch staple, a bloody mary, which I guess isn't their fault since they obviously don't have the proper licensure, but what a letdown. Then we sit down, the drinks take forever, no one offers any assistance or even checks up or even smiles/makes eye contact with the customers. We order a bunch of raw oysters and my girlfriend really likes crackers with these so we asked the server if we could get some, she looked at us and said "sorry not during brunch" - uhhh, what? I didn't even know what to say to that reply. They didn't even bring share plates for us with the 15+ oysters for 3, just the metal pan. The lobster roll sucked, 90% bread, 10% lobster and it wasn't even hot or accompanied with a buttery coating like it proclaimed on the menu. The clam chowder honestly tasted like it was from a can, the potatoes were hard and it just lacked the overall creamy texture/tone that this soup should always have, especially in Boston. Lastly, the shrimp arepa was hardly an arepa at all and I feel fairly qualified to make that accusation since I just returned from South America - this thing was so doughy and cold-centered, so far from the traditional style it's embarrassing. To top it all off, everything was served to us on paper plates and bowls. I found a funny article online titled "Row 34 Debuts Casual Sunday Brunch April 3 - Boston Magazine". If casual means paper plates and bowls accompanied with no service, they nailed it!
