Mary Mac's Tea Room

📍 Address: 224 Ponce De Leon Ave NE, Atlanta

Summary: For a 45 minute wait, the food was just ok. There was a family of 6(including kids) with a 2 hour wait and for us(3 people and a child) it was a 45 min wait. If I had eaten there before, would I wait that long. That's going to be a no. I started with deviled eggs and complimentary pot likker since it was my first time dining there. I thought the pot likker was an interesting concept but i had to douse with hot sauce before I found it edible enough. The deviled eggs were good but not 45 min wait good. I ordered the smothered chicken which I've come to find out is my go to dish at similar restaurants and it was good. For sides, I had collard greens with potato salad which were both ok. Overall, the whole experience was mediocre...nothing to write home about. At least I can say I've been there before...wouldn't miss it.

Inka Chicken

📍 Address: 1707 Wells Branch Pkwy, Austin

Stars: (4.5)

So good! I'll admit it was my first time trying Peruvian food and I'm sold. The chicken was flavorful and a good texture, not chewy or dry at all. All of the sauces were impressive and paired beautifully. Plantains were such a good addition to the meal as well so I highly recommend getting theirs. Definitely going to become a regular here.

Daruma Japanese Steakhouse

📍 Address: 5261 Westpointe Plz, Hilliard

This place was pretty good. However, I've been to a looottt of Japanese Steakhouses, so maybe I'm just a bit biased, but I definitely thought our food was underseasoned. As someone who hardly ever has complaints about salt content, I actually had to pour quite a bit of soy sauce over my fried rice and noodles just because they were lacking so much salt. The sushi we ordered was great, though. High quality fish for the nigiri, very fresh and good texture. The rice in the rolls was still quite hot though, which made them very fall-aparty. But the taste was good! As with most Hibachi places, prepare for it to be loouuuddd. It's going to be loud as expected, but man I wish some places would do something about the echo-ing high ceilings and the floor to ceiling wood and tile. Because it's always such a problem, not being able to hear someone two chairs away from you. The servers were extremely attentive and friendly, however. I was quite happy with the service, so no fault on them for any of this.

MVP Sports Bar and Grill

📍 Address: 11150 Research Blvd, Austin

We were very disappointed with this place. First, we called 3 times to find out what time they opened on Sundays, but no one ever answered. The door said they opened at 11, but oddly- their open light was turned off. We sat down in the most uncomfortable booth ever and we were the only customers in the place. We ordered a philly cheesesteak with tater tots and a small pizza (1/2 godfather, 1/2 margherita.) The sandwich needed a lot more cheese and was pretty small. The huge serving of tater tots was decent. The pizza was just ok. The toppings were good, but the crust was extremely dry. The waitress brought out our check and tried to charge us for TWO PIZZAS since we ordered 1/2 godfather and 1/2 margherita! We tried to explain how ridiculous that was, but she said, "Umm, I guess I'll check with my manager." Thankfully the manager understood and corrected our bill. The bathroom was filthy (although we were the first customers that day.) We will not be returning.

Sushi Me

📍 Address: 3655 SW Hall Blvd, Beaverton

Stars: (3)

We enjoy sushi very much, and got a restaurants.com certificate for I Love Sushi. The certificate was $25 off a purchase of $50 or more, so we gathered some friends and took them out, knowing that we would easily reach the $50 mark that way. The service was not impressive; some of the staff were plain rude, the selection going around the tracks was not great, and the sushi itself was very salty and most of it was warm. All in all, it was an unimpressive experience, but we got up to the $50 mark (the whole point of going to that place). When we went to pay the bill, we discovered the sign that said they were no longer honoring the Restaurant.com certificates. The woman apologized for the inconvenience and refused to give us any discount whatsoever. They signed up for restaurant.com, they take advantage of the advertising, then refuse to honor their end of the bargain. That's bad business. We will not be going back.
