I was really wanting to be review #650.... I meant to write about Frank much sooner because I have been there and done that. Frankly, it is a great place. The prices are fine for what you get. They have great beer and coffee!!!!!!! \m/ I have seen some amazing concerts with Frank. I like Frank's meat. We all know his specialty is his hot dog. I tried the chocolate chip cookie bacon thing once, and I was probably a bit too drunk to get the overall hype for it, but it was okay! I had a blast at Frank's during SxSw 2012. I love the staff, too, they are terrific. I just removed a star because of what else? Parking.... Oh well. It is part of the cost of being dowtown, so Frank you, Frank you very much!

Leaf Vegetarian Restaurant

We've always gone to the Sunflower when it comes to dining vegan-style in Boulder, so we thought we'd try leaf and switch it up. The stark yet endearingly green dining room that houses Leaf works well as a space to hang out in. The service was also very good, the only thing that wasn't that great was our bottle of pinot noir we ordered, which just didn't come together and had a bit of a pungency to it. The meals we ordered were the green salad and butternut curry soup and the vegan ravioli with vegan alfredo sauce. These were all delicious and I would try them again. My fiancee got the chocolate peanut butter pie-ish thing for dessert, which she thoroughly enjoyed as well. Good spot and not too expensive, although all of the entrees were between $14-$17, which seemed just a bit overpriced, although not in a ridiculous way. Will definitely return to Leaf, thanks for the great, healthy vegetarian fare!
Lenoir

After trying to get into Lenoir for over two months we finally arrived at the restaurant on Friday night April 27, 2012 for a 7:00 pm reservation. Although the restaurant was never to capacity the whole time we were there, we were always discouraged to walk in and wait for a table when calling Lenoir and trying to book a table. Parking is definitely an issue here as it is on a busy location on S 1st. Street and the parking is scarce. My husband dropped us off and came back about fifteen minutes later, sweaty and bitter. Nevertheless, we had some cocktails while we waited for the patrons at our table to leave. Once seated we realized that leisurely dining is not encouraged at Lenior as evidenced by a note at the bottom of the menu that seating was limited and please be courteous to those waiting for a table. Confirmation of this was when our waitress stopped waiting on us after our last course was served. We had heard great things about Lenoir from several people and were anxious to try their cuisine. The wine and beer menu is small but full of goodies so we have no complaints there. Additionally, everything at this place is modestly priced, a true bonus here in Austin. Lenior has a three course prix-fixed menu for 35.00. There are three options under each heading and you can order however you like in any quantity from the 12 items on the menu. Meaning, you may have three desserts, or three of the exact same entree if you so desire. It's a true mix and match. Onto the food review... All four of us in the party ordered from the field division to start. Two of us had the braised artichokes and the other two had the chickpea panisse. Both dishes were exceptional. The artichokes were served with homemade grainy mustard, wateroak feta, and a microgreen and grapefruit salad. It was delicious, light and perfectly prepared. The other two had the chickpea panisse, which is like a flan style prepared chickpea dish served with oyster mushrooms, wilted greens, and a perfectly prepared poached egg. This dish was excellent as well. Both dishes were very unique. For our second course, three of us ordered the kasu-cured fluke. This was the best dish of the night. It was served crudo, which was not listed on the menu; probably a good thing since we might not have ordered it if it was. None of us had eaten raw fluke before, but the way they prepared it was divine. It was atop an avocado butter, and topped with crab, radishes and wonderful vinaigrette. There was something crunchy on the top that suited the dish well. My husband ordered the buttermilk rabbit, and it was a huge disappointment. It was drowned in what tasted like a Thai curry broth gone bad. The rabbit was in no way tender and unappealing to the eye in color. It is not a good sign when the spring vegetables are the highlight of a "land" dish. Finally, we moved on to course number three. My amiga and I went with the fish curry and it was very good. The tomatoes in the dish were excellent and the peppery finish in the dish heated up our palates quite well. The fish was a little heavy form the frying; perhaps an oven roast or grill would have been better. The type of fish was not revealed to us, but it was a good dish overall. Our husbands had the crispy goat and potato terrine. This dish was a complete failure. The main problem with it that made the dish completely inedible was that it was too salty to eat. One of the recipients of the dish is a huge salt fan, but neither of them was able to eat the dish. We told our server and she happily substituted the dish for the head-on roasted gulf shrimp which was an average dish at best. The shrimps were well prepared and tasty but the grits had an odd shrimp sauce that made it hard to have more than a few bites. The butchered snap peas were sparse, but what was there was very good. After the twice over disappointing third course we opted not to order off the dream section and give our table up before we sat too long. With the difficulty in parking, the cramped eating space and the roller coaster of success and failures of the dishes, we doubt we will return to Lenoir. I'm not sure what all the hype is about...

Bouldin creek cafe is amazing! Such a fun atmosphere with awesome vegetarian and vegan options. I've been here several times with friends and family and have enjoyed it every time. The service is always friendly and helpful and the food is great! Sometimes the wait can be a little long but no wonder, this place is amazing. All of the sandwiches and basil grilled cheese are delicious and nothing beats the vegan oatmeal and chocolate chip cookies! Austin beerworks black thunder is only $3. Yes please!

After speaking with management to fix the confusion that happened where I didn't get the pizza I wanted, I gave this place another try. I was very impressed this time around. Maybe it was just the pesto sauce that made me think this pizza was lacking the first time I had something here, but with the traditional red sauce, it tasted like one great pizza. I brought a friend of mine with me and he said it was the best pizza he has had in years. I normally like a thinner pizza, but this place might make me want to try some thicker crusts in the future if they all taste like this. I don't know if I would wait an hour for this pizza (tried going here once before and the wait for a table was an hour), but I will definitely be ordering this pizza again in the future.
