Juliano's Pizzeria

📍 Address: 15606 SE Mill Plain Blvd, Vancouver

Stars: (3.5)

This its my future wife favorite place , the wait sucks but it's worth it . We will be coming here for a long time.

Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

📍 Address: 22 SW 3rd Ave, Portland

Stars: (3.5)

I didn't necessarily mind the 20 min wait, but the handwritten "cash only" sign would've been much more helpful OUTSIDE rather than inside after the wait. The $4 in cash in my wallet really cut down my spending power (I would've purchased a lot more had I known to bring cash). The gal at the register was rude, SO INCONVENIENCED to answer my questions. When I later opened my bag to get the donuts out, the receipt was wrapped around them. Disgusting. Congratulations, Voodoo Donuts. You have convinced me to never return.

The Righteous Room

📍 Address: 2142 Johnson Ferry Rd, Brookhaven

Stars: (4)

The tree in the middle sets the tone for the whole atmosphere. It's very laid back but maybe even too laid back. The food service is a little slower then we would have liked but the wings were tasty and well priced.

Lenoir

📍 Address: 1807 S 1st St, Austin

Stars: (4)

Would give this one a 3.5 if I could. I read other reviews here that said Lenoir could accommodate vegans nicely, which is why I chose it for me and my husband's engagement anniversary dinner. (Doing too much, I know, but we're one year in so for now, an "engagement anniversary" is a thing.) When I made our reservation, I was sure to include that one of us was vegan. On the night of, we get to the hostess stand and she asks which one of us is vegan, which was cool! But once it was time to order, our waitress seemed completely caught off guard when I asked what the vegan options were. She looked over the menu item by item, mostly saying "No, couldn't do that one. No, not this one either" and finally said "Well, we could make the deer dish, but without the protein." Hm. Not a real solution, is that? Certainly not if I'm being asked to pay the full price. The food itself ranged from pretty good to RIDICULOUSLY good. The first dish I had (the cashew ginger soup) was INCREDIBLE. Seriously. I was completely floored by how delicious it was. I could have drank a pitcher of the stuff. The second dish was strong as well, but the third dish was phoned-in. It was the deer dish, but the deer replaced with a squishy, over-seasoned, chunk of radish. My husband's food was good, but he also had a meh dish in his lineup. Also, we both noticed the portions were pretty small. They seemed smaller than your typical fancy food portions. Definitely left hungry. Overall, the place was beautiful and romantic, and the food was great but not without its occasional misses.

Home Slice Pizza

📍 Address: 1415 S Congress St, Austin

Stars: (4.5)

Yum. I have been meaning to come here for a couple of years and finally made it here late last night. After a little bit of bar hopping we decided a piece of pizza would top off the night. We had eaten dinner about 4 hours prior at Mulberry - also delicious. We arrived at Home Slice around 11 pm. The bar was almost full but we were able to grab two seats at the far right end. We ordered a large pizza anticipating that it would be delicious and we wanted to have leftovers. Sitting at the bar we had a great view of the guys making the pizzas as well as the pizza ovens. These guys have a system, and based on the results, a good one! We watched our pizza being made from the dough tossing, to the sauce and cheese and then the toppings - half pepperoni and mushroom and half anchovy and onion (they don't skimp here) and then into the queuing rack to a wait for a spot in the oven. I asked as to why they queued the pizzas when it seemed there was space in the oven and learned that they need to rotate the spaces in the oven in order to make sure that there is consistent temperatures for the pies- brilliant. I would guess it took about 15 minutes, maybe 20 from ordering to delivery. The pie was cooked perfectly and the crust was crispy but not burnt. Great pizza. The guys in the kitchen were hopping but that didn't mean that they ignored the patron's at the bar. They were very friendly and kept us entertained while we waiting. Looking forward to another visit to Home Slice soon. Thanks!

Voodoo Doughnut - Old Town

📍 Address: 22 SW 3rd Ave, Portland

Stars: (3.5)

I heard about this raving reviews of this place, so while in Portland I checked it out and ordered a selection of donuts, including the maple bacon, voodoo, captain crunch and fruitloop donuts. I would have given this place four or five stars, but half the donuts I got were stale by the time I got them. It doesn't make sense, because they are so crazy busy all the time. Maybe they make them in super large batches, maybe they don't store them well, whatever, it was a little disappointing.
