The French Table Bistro

📍 Address: 3916 Main Street, Vancouver

Stars: (3.5)

Fantastic local French bistro. Real French food and recipes. Service is also French bistro style which is fine by me. They are in the business of good food and it shows. I can give it no higher praise then that it's on my list of regulars. Order the daily menu. Enjoy.

Screen Door

📍 Address: 2337 E Burnside St, Portland

Here for dinner. My wife's from Texas and a fantastic cook but seemed a good try, and yes it was. The food is rich and filling, but more importantly tastily done, with fine ingredients. The screen door platter giving you 3 choices is a great way to go, especially with the vegetarian specials-- slow roasted rainbow carrots & parsnips, very yummy, and a gratin of potatoes, cauliflower & mushrooms w/ a cream sauce so buttery, maybe maple. But somebody at the table needs the fried chicken, crispy on the outside & juicy on the in but one thimble of gravy nowhere near enough.) I liked the jambalaya much, & we all loved the fired okra. Excellent, attentive (if not completely informed) service. Yes you gotta wait.

Revival

📍 Address: 129 Church St, Decatur

I'm a big fan of Gunshow, but I'll be honest that this wasn't my favorite. I get it that it's like eating at your grandma's house on a Sunday, but I was hoping for some unique twists on favorites for brunch. Perhaps lunch or dinner have different menus and vibe? It didn't help that we had a crying baby behind us that the family didn't have enough sense to take them outside for a break. I have kids, and have always taught them that this is someone else's dinner time besides ours. I'll get off of my soapbox, but when/where do parents think they learn these manners? I think if Grandma was on the premises, she would have scolded the parents for not having better sense!!

South City was phenomenal! We were going to another restaurant but it was packed. Chose here. Presently surprised. Great meal. Pricey, but good.
