Absolutely love this place! Every time I go or call in, the staff is very helpful and is willing to accommodate. The staff also explains what spices are in the foods that makes it so tasty. The pumpkin is yummy. Also, the Quable Palow (spelling?) is great too, which is a rice with lamb. The server is great and knows my husband and I by name and we have only been in there a 3-4 times :)

I wanted to do 4 stars but.. I'm not a fan. It's true that Franklin's is as good as it gets with the whole Texas BBQ experience, but I personally think it's BS they won't do something to fix the wait time. If they proved to me that they are taking steps to decrease wait time I'll change my review to 5 stars. But for you tourists, you should know that you can keep your whole day if you decide to just eat at Black's on Guadalupe. It's good food and you can keep the rest of your day. Now if you want true Texas BBQ and you have a car, drive out to one of the famous country places like Smitty's in Lockhart or Cooper's in Llano. I hesitate to say Salt Lick because theirs is not a very authentic Texas barbecue experience but it is very good in its own way. What I mean is that true Texas BBQ has no sauce... still Salt Lick's sauce is amazing. Also it's on plates and not by the pound . Also it's a pretty drive to Driftwood. So to recap: Franklin's is really good but I don't respect a business that won't do something to keep their customers from wasting their entire day on one meal. A lot of people just have a day or two to spend on their trip and it's not fair to hog it all like that. Save time, eat good BBQ at Black's on Guad. It's way better than the Black's in Lockhart, I promise. I've also heard it's worth checking out La Barbecue but that's just something I keep hearing. Couldn't tell you what the wait time, food, or atmosphere is like. It is a trailer though so... that's worth noting. But by all means, if you like standing in lines and amazing BBQ, this is your place.

Soooooo Good. all of the dishes were fabulous, even the simple steak frites... Drinks and bread first....the Habenero Watermelon Margarita..oh my goodness that was good, if you are not a spicey fan or a tequilla person this is not for you but the sweet aroma and first taste are wonderful, then coems the hot. Definitely a starter drink not to have with dinner, it doesn't wipe out your taste buds but for some it might compromise them a bit. the hot wears off pretty fast though. Wine was fabulous we shared a bottle of a red mix....I can't remember the type but it was in the $30 to $40 range. The Bread...well the hummus and butters were just perfect sweet savory, awesome. I started with the Corn cowder with chili oil, sooooooo good, perfect starter for a meal. perfectly balanced, sweet and spice, texture was great....we swaped and the salad greens were simple but very tasty the dressing was tart and spiced but refreshing. and I tried another but can't remember.... I had the Short rib dish, a wonderful braise and sauce. the portionand cuts were fantastic the risotto was perfect. The short Ribs as expected melted in my mouth. The plating was great the dish was HUGE but made the portion look right......the horadish encrusted salmon was good, well cooked and well presented, the steak frites were tasty and a very safe meal if you aren't feeling adventurous. Cooked well, sauced wells and the fries were spiced awesome...I could eat a whole plate of them if allowed... :)Great atmosphere, comfortable, got a bit busy but not overwhelmingly load or crowded, we'll defnitely be heading back to Masa, the rest of the menu must be tried!!!

Ordered the salmon with dill from the regular menu (not the special. The fish was flaky and had great flavor. Green beans however left much to be desired from their bland taste and rubbery texture. Mashed potatoes were par.3 dessert sampler was worthwhile. Flourless chocolate cake was decent but I've had better by Jake's in the past. Berry cobbler was quite good with a wonderful rich taste and oozing with lots of berries. Creme brulee took the cake (no pun intended). This rivaled even that of high brow restaurants in Paris that I visited less than a month ago! Rich, creamy, strong bodied, decent vanilla bean flavor within the custard, and perfect caramelized glaze coating. Solid 4-4.5/5!

I've been here 2 times now. I live close by and assumed it was overrated, but I'm happy to say that every bite I've had has been wonderfully delicious. The servers are nice and mostly very helpful. Managers always stop by for your feedback. Our server gave us a free chocolate bread pudding since we had never tried it before. . .good marketing- I'll buy it next time. . .and I'm more likely to come back. But, I'm a poor college student, so I'm hoping I can get another free dessert! :-) It's definitely worth a visit. Delicious bacon-wrapped dates appetizer. I can't speak to the nightlife, but for early dinner and lunch...YES!
