Baraka Cafe

📍 Address: 812 Memorial Dr, Cambridge

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4)

Delicious little family-run restaurant. Went to Baraka on a Fri eve at around 6:30. It wasn't busy at first, but by the time we were done, almost each table was taken. Cash only!!!Loved the food, though I have to admit, I don't know what to compare it to. In general terms, the flavors were quite distinct. We had a few appetizers and fish in tomato-base sauce, which was quite delicate. (Normally I never get tomato-sauce dishes.) The dessert was very cute - a beautiful platter with two smaller cups of mint tea, and a few desserts (similar to baklava).

Barlow

📍 Address: 737 SW Salmon St, Portland

Watch the bartenders....an experience of a long forgotten talent of mixology. Fantastic cocktails, and appetizers. Wonderful find!

Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q

📍 Address: 11570 Research Blvd, Austin

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

While Rudy's boasts a tray-full of delicious meat selections, their turkey is the true star. Never moisture starved, this juicy, perfectly smoked hunk o' yumminess hits your tray and makes all the sides yell, HOWDY! Speaking of sides... Rudy's creamed corn is a mouthwatering delight that deserves its very own food group! The only reason this is not 5-Star review is the lack of back-friendly seating. Picnic tables with non-movable seats are not usable for those with back issues. They are also not wheelchair friendly because you cannot pull up to them with the benches locked in place, I am forced to get take out each time or eat from the tray itself in my lap. Not ideal. :( Still... ooooh that TURKEY!

Habibi Lebanese Semoran

📍 Address: 6651 S Semoran Blvd, Ste 108, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

I tried the chicken shawerma sandwich platter and it wasn't bad. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be enough for a kid because too little meat in it. I literally finished eating in about 3 minutes. The Kofta looks good though, I might go check it out before I leave the city.

Sushi Nami

📍 Address: 1315 Lonsdale Avenue, North Vancouver

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐ (3.5)

Looks good on the outside. Menu doesn't look as good. Obviously prices have been raised all over the place so there are little amendments made to the menu all over. And it's obvious that no one Japanese copy edited the menu - I mean Goroket?!? Come on, it's Koroke. It's also kind of pricey when it comes to most things ... assorted tempura for about $12? Anyway, the service is also dreadfully slow. And they will not fill up your water. You have to wave them down for everything. They won't even take finished plates, so we resorted to just stacking them on an empty table next to us. Now to the food. It was actually surprisingly decent. The toro sashimi was excellent. Great price on it, great portion, and cut very well (not in sashimi blocks ;). I also got the salmon and avocado salad which was a good appy portion for two, or a nice portion for one - I'm not sure what kind of dressing on it, but it's light, good amount of avocado and mango. The only complaint is that the mango wasn't ripe ... but overall I would get the two dishes above, again.I tried the sunrise roll ... one of the better speciality rolls I've had in a long time. The yakisoba was also pretty good. So all in all, everything is a let down but the food. It's really a one star as far as everything else and a 4 star for the food.

Keke's Breakfast Cafe

📍 Address: 4430 Curry Ford Rd, Orlando

⭐ Stars:⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4.5)

Talk about a stick-to-your-ribs breakfast! I finally got a chance to get in to Keke's Breakfast Cafe on Curry Ford Road. This location was once Players Sports Bar and Grill. I never realized how big the place actually is, since the dining room is not divided into separate dining rooms like it once was. Not only is it spacious, but the whole front of this Keke's are windows, allowing as much natural light to enter into a soft lit dining area. And paintings of food decorate the walls in place of a mural of athletes that included former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino. I was greeted immediately and was given a menu by my hostess while she asked what I would like to drink. I was given my coffee and ice water, and was told my waitress would be with me shortly. I had to wait a few minutes, but that was no problem since I had my morning coffee and newspaper. My server, Justine, made her way to my table and greeted me. I ordered the Two Pancake Combo, which featured two of the largest pancakes I have ever seen! The combo also had two eggs (over easy for me) and a choice of breakfast meat. I went with the sausage links. The pancakes were fantastic! And my eggs were cooked to my liking. You can choose either two pancakes or two french toast for your combo. And with everything, it comes up to $9.99. With coffee ($2.49) and tax, my total came up to $13.30. Justine came up to my table throughout my visit, asking if I needed anything. It's nice to have the friendly and prompt service that she provided, so I have to give Justine a shout out. I did not have to worry about getting another refill of coffee or ice water, and even another waitress made the rounds, asking patrons if they would like more coffee. Speaking of coffee, a few flavored coffees are available as well. Keke's may be a little pricey, but I was quite happy with my visit. And my breakfast! Which lasted me well into lunch time! The food was great, the restaurant is clean and quiet with smooth jazz playing in the dining area, and the staff was very welcoming and friendly. I do not go out for breakfast that often. But I would come back again soon. This was definitely worth coming in for. Before Keke's moved into this location, the space sat dormant for several years. I am really happy that Keke's Breakfast Cafe has set up shop here. Residents of the Curry Ford-Conway area can sure use a great restaurant as this. And the next time I visit Keke's, I think I am going to try the French Toast.
