After numerous attempts at eating at La Mongerie...it saddens me to give a bad review. I always get the chicken and waffles, which were tasty on most of the time. I think the chef makes good food, despite the fact that the quality can be inconsistent. My issue is not with the place, but with the shoddy service. In the last year I've watched this place go from bad to worse. One week there are complimentary mimosas, then the service is discontinued...only to be reinstated a few weeks later. The wait staff is slow and unapologetic. Not to mention they miss out on simple restaurant etiquette. My friend ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of bacon. Her plate was chipped and the bacon was sitting in grease with random grissle shavings (gross) around it. The whole plate just looked disgusting. It only takes a few extra seconds to properly clean and plate a meal. The extra consideration is why people dine-in. My waffles were smaller, burnt, and not fluffy. The chicken was also smaller and a bit dry. My plate came out last but my food was cold. How does that happen? Oh and there is the new cash only rule...which is not on their yelp or website. Even busted nail shops take credit/debit cards these days. La Mongerie, you are a seemingly nice restaurant in a prime location. The cash only policy makes you look cheap and below par. I watched countless people walk up and leave bc of the (handwritten) cash only sign on the door. I unfortunately missed the sign and had to force them to take my card. (They pretended they didn't have card machine, but they do.) Naturally the woman had an attitude about me charging my meal. Have no fear, it won't happen again. La Mongerie, I love your chicken and waffles...but the meal isn't worth the awful experience. It's obvious your cutting costs, and it will only lead to your continued demise.

Service is minimal, eggs were dry and flavorless, today was soggy, hash browns were soggy, bacon was covered in grease and floppy. Their juice wasn't stocked and their water wasn't cold. Parking is very limited. I won't be visiting again. I don't understand why this place is still open...
Santarpio's Pizza

One of Boston's food landmarks with no shortage of "Eastie" grit and attitude. No frills and straight to the point with thin crust pizza offered only in one diameter with your choice of toppings. Glad to have finally made my way out here before I leave, just don't expect anything remarkable. Tomato sauce is fresh, toppings vary (my friend said that the mushrooms tasted canned) and the crust is good as long as you eat it before it cools down.

It is time I take a moment and write a review for Dedham House of Pizza. My partner and I have been going here since we moved into our new house in May of 2013. What initially drew me in was the great food and friendly people. Only to realize it was a family run establishment which is a major plus. Why would i want to give my money to a chain when I can support my local business? They quickly were calling us by name when we walked in their door and always made us feel welcomed. Just the other day, someone had ordered too many pizzas so DHOP gave us a small pizza with our order! When we order delivery, they know our dogs by name and always take a moment to acknowledge them upon delivering our food. Bottom line, they have great food and make you feel like part of their family. We LOVE this place! Keep up the good work guys!

Just returned from Valentine's night at the "New Rafiki." I've never been to the old one, so I treated it like a brand-new place. We had the four-course prix-fixe Valentine's Day menu. I had the winter squash and lentil soup, fancy onion rings, scallops and brown rice, and truffles with strawberries. My accomplice had the soup, a salad with some foie gras, steak, and lemon crepes. The food, on the whole, was good. Some of the dishes approached excellence, particularly the squash and lentil soup and the lemon crepes. The "New Rafiki" definitely has the potential to serve a menu that is divine from start to finish, but I'll have to try more dishes before I can go a full five. And the host gave all the ladies a rose on the way out. A stylish gesture! A star off regarding the restaurant's layout. The space is split with the tables on one side and the bar on the other. The space behind the bar isn't big enough for the wait staff to pass through. Wait staff also had trouble getting around the cold-blocking curtains so they could deliver food to the tables by the windows. A restaurant needs to pack 'em in, but a little extra breathing room could keep plates of food from decorating the patrons. Yes, we'd come back, but we might ask to sit farther away from the front door!
